Re: Did those pesky 116 pages really matter?
Yes, they matter. If you truly understand the lost 116 pages story and the actual translation process. Then the events are very faith promoting and testimony building. Gr33n, Different people seem to have different understandings of the subject. You should take the time to explain a true understand...

Re: Did those pesky 116 pages really matter?
Dr, Exiled, Just for the sake of rethinking a subject, I find myself puzzled by peoples concern about the hat. How else was he to translate (if there was a translation)? He was clueless about the language so staring at the plates would be of no use at all. Perhaps he could have stared at the ceilin...

For those of us who did not know him, what, if any, was the relationship between him and S.W.?

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
I do not personally know Dr Wayment but he has been kind to reply to my email of two days ago when i wrote that rumors were that there there were hundreds of parallels between the JST and Clarke's work not yet published. He replied that he was working on getting the long list of parallels in public...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
I've read several articles about this, and await the book for their full "case." I would be interested in seeing these several articles. AFIK there are only three publications on this. The short publication put out by Wilson for her grant, the expansion of the same article published as chapter 11 i...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
I intend on looking into the Wayment/Wilson-Lemmon study more thoroughly, but my initial thought beforehand is that it has to be along the lines of B.H. Roberts' orchard analogy: picking up a few worm-eaten, wind-blasted specimens off the ground and representing it as the fruit of the entire orchar...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
I'm a believer, and a former Bishop. I think Jackson's article about Clarke is both excellent and devastating. In other late breaking news, it has been discovered water is wet. It was peer reviewed. I could not feel more satisfied and at rest if the entire Whitmer family had peer reviewed it.

Re: Oaks gets it right
Empty rhetoric from a leader of an organization that still will not acknowledge it's own checkered racist past and racist scriptures, not to mention their current misogynistic organization and bigoted GLBT stances.
This, as Gad points out, is only meant to assuage the frothing faithful.

Line of the night Re: Presidential debate & Miami Heat
Last night the Lakers delivered a beat down of the Miami Heat in the 1st game of the NBA finals. One writer observed that they only way the night could have been worse for the Heat would have been to force them to watch the presidential debate.
