Re: RFM on Kamp in Court
She’s spent $300,000 on attorneys, two of which have left the case after working with her. And still she pushes forward. She seems dangerously incapable of understanding reason. She's going to strike a blow for ex-Mormon women everywhere. Real Soon. Totes gonna happen. ETA: If she's got 300K to bur...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"
Those recollections claiming to remember the names Nephi and Lehi do make me think that Smith might well have done some cribbing from Spalding. Why does either name need an explanation at all? Nephi is from Judges. Lehi is from 2 Maccabees https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Maccabees-Chapter-1/...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"
The more I think of his trigger warning, the more irked I get. “Let me cook up something to make it look challenging to people’s faith, and then warn them that it inevitably will be.” He has repeated variations of that in interviews. When I heard it I thought it at best impolitic, at worst delusion...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"
So, started to read the book today, and, again, I am unimpressed. Sure, it is fun, but it basically raises interesting coincidences and possibilities. There is nothing that convincingly connects Kircher, Monmaur, John Smith, and Joseph Smith. I don’t see that apologists have much to worry about her...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"
Don't get me wrong. The author seems like a nice, genuine, and brilliant guy. I disagree with his conclusions, but I bought the book because I thought it would make for a fun read. I am sure it will be. I would really appreciate a "return and report" on the book. I listened to the some of the podca...

Re: Ed Goble Book of Abraham Podcast now up
Is Ed Goble related to Clark Goble?
Goble wasn't an apologist, but he had some very weird ideas about the philosophical aspects of Mormonism. Nice enough guy who tragically died a few years back.

Re: SeN on Willard Richards: "unusually bright and capable"? Or Delusional and "Obsessed"?
Why can't it be both? In fact, this seems to be a bit of a confessional of DCP. He is bright and capable AND delusional and obsessed. In fact that's kind of a good description of most Mopologetics. None of them seems dull and incapable. All of them are surely obsessed with defending the truth claims...
