Re: Mormons want perfect boobs
Just to play Devil's Advocate, if repairing a body after child birth/breastfeeding is a significant motivating factor then the higher birth rate for Mormon women may have something to do with the increased density of plastic surgeons. Especially if "damage" increases the more kids you have...

Re: The Nephites vs. Lamanites chess set is a real thing
Good grief,
With only three named women in the Book, who would they select as queens? Sariah for the Nephite queen maybe. Was Isobel the harlot a Lamanite?
The product description doesn't name anyone other than Nephi.

Re: The Archaeology of the Council of Nicaea
There are a number of other examples he could have used, like archaeological evidence for Sodom & Gomorrah, the exodus, Solomon's temple and the like. Why go for the crazy option?

Re: The Archaeology of the Council of Nicaea
Cripes, it was a series of meetings, not a centuries-long civilization. What archaeological evidence would they expect to find?

Re: When White Racist Kids Murder
Reports indicate that he joined the meeting and sat there for an hour watching his targets. Then he deliberately left one person alive to pass on his message that he specifically targeted African Americans. After an apparent suicide attempt (did he know his weapon was empty when he pulled the trigge...

Re: Right on Target!
First Nahom, now Gidgidoni! I am going to have to go back to church now. Actually, I am surprised there are not a raft of overlaps between crazy Mormon names and names from somewhere in the Middle-East. There must be millions of names from Middle-Eastern/North African history - the chances that some...

Re: Historical Book of Mormon under Siege
Thanks for posting this Kish, I have spent way too much time procrastinating over at Phillip Jenkins blog now. The comments sections are just as interesting as his posts. Hopefully, the apologists are thrilled that the Book of Mormon has been addressed by a credentialed historian. They usually compl...

Re: Fake News on Elder Scott's Apostasy.
It is progress if the church and family are accurately reporting that "fading memory" is the reason for not participating in meetings and the like. The next step is to actually replace him with a functioning apostle. That would be interesting to see - will they pre-empt the lord by putting...

Re: Limited geography and Epidemiology
The year-long quarantine is a good point, also Google tells me that measles may not have evolved from Rinderpest until well after the Lehite migration. So disease is definitely not a smoking gun at least. I would love to see an analysis of the possibilities of transmission of the variety of diseases...
