Re: "Bitter Fruit"
What's interesting to me is there seems to be this theme in the church that a righteous life will also be extremely difficult. I mean, look how the LDS latch on to the old quote that they somehow (mis)attribute to Jesus, "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it." It was an ex...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
With only a few subject-noun changes, Kent Jackson's article could be re purposed to explain beautifully and forcefully why the Book of Mormon is not a historical text. I guess the interesting follow up question for me is, do these people not see the double standard or do they see it and it doesn't...

I'm just really shocked that he was able to resist jumping back on his gay/transgender hobby horse again.

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
It's funny how strong parallels can be dismissed when inconvenient for LDS belief, but weak parallels become strong evidence when they link the Book of Mormon to some random ancient proper noun.
There's just no attempt at consistency here.

Re: What Happened To Water Dog?
I remember getting into it one time with him when he was all bent out of shape that I called the BYU electroshock conversion therapy 'torture'. It's like that word triggered him or something and then he went on and on about how he had a super high tolerance for pain and lanced an abscess on his scro...

Re: The Great Apostasy vs LDS Succession
What pisses me off is the hundreds of times on my mission where I explained the "Great Apostasy" as a simple consequence of the 12 apostles being killed off before they could ordain others. It just doesn't sit well with me how the church does such a poor job educating the missionaries so t...

Re: The Great Apostasy vs LDS Succession
As a body, the seventy in the church are considered to be equal in priesthood authority with the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. This presumably means that if the apostles were killed or incapacitated, the seventy could take over the function of the apostles. Seventy (LDS Church) Jesus Christ, I can...

The Great Apostasy vs LDS Succession
Recently, I heard that should everyone in the Q15 die of COVID-19 all at once, the Q70 presidency would have the authority to ordain an apostle and kick-start the reconstitution of the Q15. Does anybody know if this is true? Even better, if it is true, is it written down anywhere? When I heard this,...

Re: Dan Peterson is Just Flat Out LYING Now
And it was never about "tradition." DCP should inform the brethren, who drafted the letter linked to below, which was read from nearly all LDS pulpits in California, entitled Preserving Traditional Marriage and Strengthening Families. DCP is so smart that he knows more about the brethren'...
