Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
Jackson's article comes off as not much more than a desire to fulfill the need put out by Oaks that someone needs to say something when critiques come out. It doesn't matter too much what it is, but you have to respond. Right. Jackson actually sows doubt in a Clarke influence on the JST in at least...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke
Why does it matter whether Joseph plagiarized 1% or 100% of the JST? That’s like saying it isn’t a bank robbery unless you get all the money.

Sheesh. No wonder Jackson goes for the jugular on Wayment as he does. It will be interesting to see how Jackson addresses the matter once Wayment releases all of the "hundreds" of instances of Clarke-borrowing he found with Wilson-Lemmon.

Re: Did Allen Wyatt Get 'Demoted' at Interpreter?
I have no particular insight about this, but would imagine that Wyatt now goes to bed on Thursdays with a sense of foreboding dread. No doubt he understands perfectly well that your calling attention to the reoccurring slights assures that (a) he will never again be publicly and properly thanked by ...

Re: "Bitter Fruit"
Makes you wonder -- how many gay Nephites and Lamanites must there have been? I recall estimates of ~1 million people during the "golden era" of 4 Nephi. It may have been more than 1 million, if all the marriages and multiplying began in the low teen years, which is likely tautological if we could q...

Re: How many times did Joseph Smith preach using the Book of Mormon?
I would love to know where to find the apologetic answer on FAIR Mormon. "Why didn't Joseph Smith make daily study of the Book of Mormon a priority?" "Why didn't Joseph Smith teach more frequently from the Book of Mormon?" The answer makes its own case from the data: because the Book of Mormon was a...

Re: "Bitter Fruit"
What exactly is it that makes being born to an out-of-wedlock couple a "bitter fruit?" We know divorce rate is something like 50%, no better in the church. Would D. Todd agree that half of all married-couple births also destined to become bitter fruits, too? And I wonder what the data says about out...

Re: "Bitter Fruit"
Eh, I think it's silly to blow this one out of proportion. It was a poorly proofread sentence, nothing more. Mistakes like these are predictable enough, since the goal is so singularly on keeping members afraid of stepping outside of the church-defined chalk line of morality. Did anyone else see the...

Re: Gerritt Gong and wife have COVID
That's too bad. Hopefully the masks and socially distanced chairs prove to have done their job during this weekend's 10 hours of conference sessions.
