Can we corroborate Bednar’s Conference anecdote?
During a recent open house and media day for a new house of the Lord, I led a group of journalists on a tour through the sacred structure. I described the purposes of temples in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and responded to their many excellent questions. Before entering the cele...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
Sometimes trying to support lds theology over all else really ties the arguments up in knots. Here's a certain mopologist explaining the nature of relationships after death: ...here are some examples of Christian (and other) marriage vows that I’ve easily located online. They demonstrate that the d...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
In the discussion on Frenchy's situation, a poster offered this: The brethren ask us to vote is enough for me to believe that it is the right thing to do. Beyond that, families could not exist if every person took time to calculate if a particular action yielded more benefits than costs. No ward or...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
My mother died on 11 April 2005. I think it was on our first visit to the cemetery after my mother’s passing that my wife and I, driving up the rather steep hill toward my parents’ graves, noticed an elderly man who was toiling painfully up the road. We pulled over and asked him whether he could us...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
Heres DCP's reason for not doing Frenchy's temple work: ...Having never known nor even met any other member of Frenchy Morrell’s family, and having met Frenchy himself only once, briefly and years ago, and being neither his undivorced spouse nor his adult child nor his father or mother or brother o...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
So did Tangeta violate this? That’s a very good point, Rivendale. Back when tangata was kissing Dr. Peterson’s butt about this, DCP declared that this apparent violation of Church policy was “Wonderful!” You see: the rules don’t matter when DCP is angling for clicks on his blog; when that’s the goa...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
So I think that I’ll state here what I actually think about this question: No, Frenchy and Wanda hadn’t been sealed in a Latter-day Saint temple. But that doesn’t mean that they won’t see or know each other in the world of spirits. Absence of a temple sealing simply means that spouses are no longer...

Re: Mormons arguing that “Mormon” is as derogatory as the N-word
If the church feels the tone, time and landscape changed, that "Mormon" is now an insult, or some other purpose, like outing all the deceptively titled channels like "Mormon Stories", it can if it wants. It's not a democracy. You have no say. I have no say. It’s not a Church initiative, it’s one ma...

Re: The Rosebud MEGATHREAD
Why does the documentation have to happen in a DISCUSSION forum? Why not make a blog or do it on the webpage of the person creating the "documentation"? Or do it in a word document. This isn't about documenting anything, it's about firing rage at someone else. And imagining they are reading it all....

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness
This is priceless. Frenchy was married twice! Which wife does Peterson think he missed so very much? Instead of dying did Frenchy remarry and live happily till his death? Peterson feels himself above serving a senior mission as requested by Apostles. But he obviously also sees himself above doing te...
