Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

That's a perfect description of how to exercise bias against those one disagrees with, for no good reason other than one assumes they are inferior humans. Not really a rational position, unfortunately. Sure it’s rational. Go to the author to ask what they intended something in their book to mean. D...

That’s what she told the judge in the hearing.
Don’t know how I missed that, except I found some of it difficult to hear.

Thanks!

That is totally bonkers. What a waste.

She’s spent $300,000 on attorneys, two of which have left the case after working with her. And still she pushes forward.

She seems dangerously incapable of understanding reason.
$300,000? How do you know that?

I fear for her future on her behalf.

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

Just curious Smith said the word "Mormon" meant "more good" Wesley P Walters in his Mth said it mean "frightening" based as an adjective for "mormo" means hideus face or mask. or "Mormo (Greek: Μορμώ, Mormō) was a female spirit in Greek folklore, whose name was invoked by mothers and nurses to frig...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

Why does either name need an explanation at all? Nephi is from Judges. Lehi is from 2 Maccabees https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Maccabees-Chapter-1/#36 I guess this thread has me thinking, what is this book trying to explain at all? Sure, I guess more background information about the context...

Re: Israel

Roland Martin does a great job exposing today's media for pushing this pro-Israel narrative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i63gYmDPj5Q&t=735s Turns out the agitators at these colleges aren't the pro-Palestinian protesters, it is the outsiders coming to start trouble. We saw the same thing with th...

Re: The Trump Criminal Case MEGATHREAD.

It is stunning how ajax18's blinkered thinking so closely resembles Jenn Kamp's recent court appearance. "Why can't I demand the same from my opponents that they demand of me, even though I obviously do not understand the laws or procedures governing this situation? Don't I get to decide arbitrarily...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

Those recollections claiming to remember the names Nephi and Lehi do make me think that Smith might well have done some cribbing from Spalding. On the other hand I gather that lots of people had notions about ancient Jews populating the Americas. I think that for a long time European Christians cou...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

It's like you paid no attention to anything I typed. You still think "Spalding's Work" is the Oberlin Manuscript and not Manuscript Found . "Spalding's Work" also includes the Romance of Celes , which Nielsen quotes in his HBMCP. He ought to have published that and let people judge for themselves w...

That was painful to hear. She’s wasting an incredible amount of her and others’ time and resources. One wonders if she should be fined or held in contempt for these shenanigans.
The judge was incredibly patient with her, all things considered.
