For instance, why DID Joseph change "unicorns" in one place (consistent with Clarke), but not in other places where "unicorn" or "unicorns" appears? Jackson did the research to show that yes, Josep...

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke

With only a few subject-noun changes, Kent Jackson's article could be re purposed to explain beautifully and forcefully why the Book of Mormon is not a historical text.

Re: Joseph coulnd't possibly have relied on Adam Clarke

So the apologists are attacking Wayment’s scholarship in order to take away any potential for a slam dunk? This is an odd strategy indeed. If parallels don’t work then I’m afraid the entirety of the Interpreter’s corpus is null and void. I will have to go see how it is that Wayment’s 100s of instanc...

Re: How many times did Joseph Smith preach using the Book of Mormon?

And then the observation which takes my breath away: "Although he described the Book of Mormon as more correct than any other book and as 'the keystone of our religion,' there is little evidence that he ever took time to study its contents as he did the Bible's." (Barlow, 44) That IS interesting ev...

Re: With a friend like Rappleye

It certainly sets up a tricky moral hazard. Like being an in house attorney, defending the hand that feeds. But without the hassle and restrictions of a state bar association.

Re: With a friend like Rappleye

I have just a few exposures to Smoot through his online presentations and comments. He strikes me as the sort of person who at one point may have looked impressive on paper, but to an interviewer would have been immediately detected as interpersonally disastrous. He has shown himself quick to insult...
