Re: Radio Free Mormon: Magic and the Book of Mormon
Oh man, I can't wait to read No man Knows my History. I'm sure it's going to be a real treat. But right now I'm getting ready to head down to the Texas Coast (Galveston) for a few days and enjoy the beach, in style. Doesn't that just sound delightful? I am surprised to hear you have never read it g...

Re: DCP: God Doesn't Care About Academic Achievement
I supposed one of my biggest objections to the concept of God is the idea that an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being would level some sort of permanent judgement on beings he created for something they did in a mortal life span. Makes no sense except to those trying to justify their own views...

Re: John Gee Alleges His Book of Abraham Book Was "Suppressed"
Hmm. Now this is interesting. Gee is alleging here that "a certain individual or group of individuals" somehow conspired to have the book's release delayed, and they succeeded in doing this? How ironic, given that the rumor mill has it that Gee was trying (maybe successfully because it has once aga...

Re: John Gee Alleges His Book of Abraham Book Was "Suppressed"
Wasn't there a Mormon leaks video a while back of a high level GA meeting (BKP was present) where this exact problem was discussed?

Re: Radio Free Mormon: Magic and the Book of Mormon
The argument that the hat needed to be dark enough to read the words on the stone is, of course, nonsense but one that made sense to those contemporaries of Joseph Smith who he was trying to fool. For proof of how one can read text off an inanimate device in normal light look no further than the tex...

Re: Radio Free Mormon: Magic and the Book of Mormon
By the way, a great place to hide the notes or text off of which Joseph Smith might of been reading, would be........
under the cloth with the "plates" themselves.

Not that it is a good idea but it looks like they are reassigning missionaries to areas within their own countries .
Still it is a great way to spread the virus from one part of a country to another.

Re: Radio Free Mormon: Magic and the Book of Mormon
Interesting observations RFM. But it raises a tough question. This would imply that there was an existing text for the Book of Mormon off of which Joseph Smith was reading. Now to me, that makes more sense than words magically appearing on a stone, but for believers they are going to demand some evi...

Re: peterson's Review of Hitchens Is Not Great
Who was that professor that got into a debate with regard to the Book of Mormon? The one who was totally thrashed? This is ending up like that. Mr. Peterson from Provo is really looking foolish right now. I think you are referring to Bill Hamblin who was defending the historicity of the Book of Mor...
