I can hate it and still accept it was going to be the outcome. I can also see why deciding the other way is problematic.
Relatedly it feels like the Supreme Court would cause the least chaos if they decided the presidential immunity sooner rather than later.

Re: Supreme Court Puts Trump Back on the Ballot
I'm not surprised, but my reading is that 14th section 3 says how congress can override the disqualification with a 2/3rds vote. To me that would say it is self-executing and congress doesn't have to proactively apply it, which my reading of the opinion suggests. I could be wrong but I don't see tha...

Re: Mormon Stories turns to spying…
Charlie trades on being a gay Mormon, he has written two books, one of which was published by Deseret Book on the subject. While I think public figures should be able to have some privacy, I am also less sympathetic to them being upset when people see them in public doing things. I didn't listen to ...

Re: Oaks' Agenda?
I think you are right Dr. Sunstoned. It is clearly a big topic in his head. Makes it all the sadder that his grandson is out. I listened to a podcast interview with him last summer and basically the grandson has no contact with Oaks, and the only efforts Oaks makes is within his calling, e.g. his se...

Re: Kearon not allowed to discuss decision to accept Apostle job with his wife.
It feels gross. It's not like conference was starting in 10 minutes so there was no time. I had a not super close friend whose dad was a GA 70 and about a year before he went emeritus he and his wife were the devotional speakers at BYU-I. I can't quite recall, but she opened her talk about how her h...

Re: Common consent middle finger?
President usually happens after death and with the succession well in order it hardly seems to await the next conference. At least going to Wikipedia and seeing when presidents of the church started the dates are not that close to conference. However usually the calling of apostles awaits the next c...

Patrick Kearon called as apostle
Breaking with tradition a guy without a middle or first initial is called well before the next general conference. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/elder-patrick-kearon-called-quorum-of-the-twelve-apostles I can only remember of one talk by the guy and it was actually something I cou...

Lester Bush has passed
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_E._Bush_Jr. I am not a scholar, I am not a historian, but I can appreciate the work they do. Lester Bush will always have a place in my heart for his contributions to Mormon history. I can't find a definitive source, but it seems to be floating around confidently...

In some cases the bishops advise the families not to go to the police and make a report, that they will handle things. A quick search showed plenty of cases that this happened.

Re: The Church and Child Abuse: An Experimental Argument
Thanks for wading through what I posted and restating your argument. I think it added clarity to me. First one I suppose I hadn't thought of it this way, if you are the bishop that called someone to scout/young mens leader then it possibly reflects poorly on you. You'd want to deal with it as quietl...
