Re: Thoughts on the Passing of Grindael

Thank you for sharing those reminiscences, Don. It helps us appreciate Johnny even more. I wish I had known him better than I did, but I feel privileged to have been among his many acquaintances.

Re: Davis article in Dialogue Journal

It is interesting that the more informed and better intelligent scholars always freaks out the Mopologists......its why we need the Jenkins, RItners, and Daviss and Grindaels of reality. The odd thing to me is that Davis has not set out to attack Mormonism. The Mopologists seem to be attacking him ...

Re: Davis article in Dialogue Journal

Bill Davis is one of the most important Mormon Studies scholars of our time. He is definitely perceived as a threat by such people as Brian Hales, and he has already entered the sights of Interpreter . I feel fortunate to have found his article on John Bunyan and the Book of Mormon a while ago. He d...

Re: Is THIS the Morality 71% of Mormonism Believes In?

Should Church leaders have put their mouths where their morality is then? Their tradition is to speak out on legislation that bears on moral issues, not individual candidates. I don't think they would have viewed breaking this tradition as a good idea. Once they speak out about a particular candida...

they believe they are carrying out the will of their Authorities. The Authorities are concerned about the sanctity of Ensign Peak Investments. Most church leaders almost certainly did not vote for Trump. The Deseret News published an editorial that was pretty strongly anti-Trump. Do you think a pro...

Re: Confessions of a CES Director

Congratulations to consiglieri for another riveting RFM episode! It is fascinating to see how someone who was much closer to the inside view of CES came to conclusions that I intuited but could never have experienced in the same way.

Re: Jesus in a Window

People walk past the Hyde Park Chapel in London and pay little mind to Mormon Christus as he beckons folks from the corner of a window. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/2e/99/6e/2e996e15cb847cc4291c094c2879a4eb.jpg Seriously, the Christus gives the illusion of a staggering drunk man in a window. The ...

Re: Trump ended COVID19

Just yesterday on a friend’s Facebook wall, a Trump supporter stepped into an ongoing discussion to point out the “substantial” achievements of Trump. On that list were such things as “pro patriotism” and “pro freedom.” I got a good chuckle out of this fellow’s claim that jingoistic mantras represen...
