Re: The obvious question
I don't know whose idea it was, but they're in a bit of a tight spot publicity-wise at the moment. I've been thinking that one way out of it would be to emulate Moses: 1. Tear up this new policy (maybe literally - that would make a nice moment on TV). 2. Blame the members for its failure: they weren...

Well, that was a waste of three minutes.

Re: A cousin, an uncle and a gun. Why I resigned?
I'm so sorry Sanctorian.
I resigned with my husband and children in early 2009. Proposition 8 was pretty much my final straw. I have a gay brother. He attempted suicide but was, fortunately, unsuccessful.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/nov/11/we-were-villains-how-wyomings-black-14-blazed-the-trail-for-missouri-protests A piece about the (historic) Wyoming protest in the Guardian newspaper (UK) published today. It would be fascinating if football played a part in the changing of this current p...

Re: Mak's failed attempt at new Mormonism.
Seriously? First, Mak would not be alienated from anyone. His taking the position that is already popular. IF the church REALLY fired him, he would have MORE support than he would know what to do with. He hasn't done ANYTHING hard by speaking out against an unpopular policy. The people that are doi...

Re: Mak's failed attempt at new Mormonism.
There is no way his employment is at risk. Could you imagine the second round of bad PR for the church firing someone for being against this policy let alone the lawsuit the church would face. He has no risk and any perceived risk is made up. Hell, I wish I worked for the church and got fired over ...

Re: Letter sent to SP's - damage control.
Hey whyme, DrW rejected my first suggestion, googling all over annie's suggestions. What do you think of this one: Folks, settle down, don't you remember the first manifesto? It was a political maneuver we never had any intention of actually enforcing it. We just needed this stuff on the books and ...

Re: Policy and custody
I saw this on Facebook this morning. "My ex has decided to take me to court to take my kids away. This all came about yesterday. I'm gay and we are divorced. We were, up until yesterday, getting along well. "I agreed in the divorce to allow her to raise the kids in the church. Apparently s...

Re: Letter sent to SP's - damage control.
I said this exactly on a different thread. People are over-reacting at the moment. Much better to take a deep breath and let the dust settle. But of course, quite a few members of this board, flew off the handle, willingly trashing the lds church without seeing just how the policy will go into effe...
