RFM Does President Nelson!

Just had a delightful discussion this morning with Bill Reel, together with Allan and Kattie Mount on the subject of global faith leader Russell M. Nelson's recent Message of Hope and Healing. https://radiofreemormon.org/2020/11/radio-free-mormon-205-givethanks/ I hope you like it! And Happy Thanksg...

Re: A Special Video Message of Hope and Healing Is Coming From the Prophet November 20

No mention of the two failed days of worldwide fasting and prayer.

But President Nelson nevertheless says prayer brings forth miracles.

I think a laugh track might be a good addition.

Re: Radio Free Mormon: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Thanks for the plug, Shulem!

I don't know that anything here is particularly earth shattering but it is fun to have a peek behind the curtain.

And I had a lot of fun to boot!!!

Re: A New Smear Article: Interpreter Targets Givens and Hauglid

Good catch, good doctor.

Strangely, the review faults Givens for saying translate doesn't mean translate while at the same time saying Joseph giving the representation of the glyphs above the figures in Fac. 3 is... wait for it... something different than translation.

Egyptologist exhume thyself.

Re: A New Smear Article: Interpreter Targets Givens and Hauglid

It has become incontrovertible that the Book of Abraham is not a translation of an ancient Egyptian document. It has also become incontrovertible that similar ideas to those expressed in the Book of Abraham obtained in Joseph Smith's milieu. Givens leaps into the breach with his bricolage banner to ...

Re: Top 10 Falsifiable FAIRMORMON Claims

The other funny thing is how DCP et al have historically introduced this proof by remarking about the howls of derision heard from the critics over this obvious gaffe. Alma a man's name? Preposterous! But diligent search has failed to turn up any examples of such howls of derision. That is why DCP p...

Re: Top 10 Falsifiable FAIRMORMON Claims

I mentioned DCP's disingenuousness regarding his use of the name Alma as a Book of Mormon evidence more than once on the Radio Free Mormon podcast. That's because I was stunned a number of years ago to find out not only that Alma was a man's name in Joseph Smith's time and place, but that DCP knew i...

Re: Has the Baton Been Passed from Gee to Smoot?

You know, Herodotus likely visited Egypt and yet he did not start writing his Histories in Egyptian or using Egyptian narrative style/organization, at least to my knowledge. I can't recall anyone having argued such a thing. But here, in Mormonia, we have a young guy with an MA in Egyptology telling...

Re: Confessions of a CES Director

Oh I have thought about that for a few years now, Shulem.

Had I invested my tithing I could retire now.

Because I gave it to the church for forty years I will never be able to retire.

Thanks LDS Church.
