Re: One of the worst yet telling Ensign articles I ever read

"Why," she asked, "are you trying to boil down information? An inspired Church-writing committee has already done that for you."

BS. No-one has ever spoken that line of dialogue. Ever.

Re: Was God okay with polygamy...?

Well, everyones name is written in the Book of Life at the beginning. However, when a person sins with intent, his name is removed from the Book of Life. Only when one becomes saved is that person's name then written in the LAMB's Book of Life ---- Permanently. This is why I believe babies who die ...

Re: Decade of FAIRLDS.org.. has it been good or bad for LDS

I think we have to be careful about saying that people leave because of FAIR, I'm not sure that it's quite as simple as that and I think such claims are easy for FAIR to dismiss. I can only speak for myself, but FAIR didn't cause me to leave the church. Several years ago (probably in 2004) I started...

Re: Apostates what age

I stopped believing when I was 28, when I was pregnant with my 5th child, but I continued to attend because my DH was on the Bishopric and I was worried about our marriage surviving my disbelief. DH and I both stopped attending when I was 33.

Re: Bishop resigns from church

Just wanted to say that I know Bishop Bloor and that he has not resigned from the church. He resigned from his calling as Bishop because he didn't feel that he could in good conscience continue to be a priesthood leader when his testimony was in shreds. He wrote to the congregation to explain why he...

Re: ‘Ridiculous Belief’ vs ‘Ridiculous to Believe’

“There’s probably no God, now stop worrying and enjoy your life” – atheist ad on UK buses Quentin L. Cook mentioned this in a conference talk: Recent bus ads in London demonstrate the polarization that exists concerning religion in general. Some atheists, agnostics, and nonbelievers paid to display...

Re: BYU Celebrates King Jame Bible Anniversary

Hi Philip, No, I'm not familiar with The Stripping of the Altars. I just had a quick google and I agree that the thesis is controversial - if such a thesis were to be widely adopted it would significantly change the way history is taught in English schools (I'm English). When I was in high school we...

Re: BYU Celebrates King Jame Bible Anniversary

I grew up with my parents telling me that Henry had "made up" the church of England in order to marry Anne Boleyn. Imagine my surprise when I studied Tudor history. So he made up a church to ensure that he had a legitimate male heir who could be the next king of England? Hi, it's been a w...

Re: BYU Celebrates King Jame Bible Anniversary

Long time lurker here. I just registered for the express purpose of responding to the above quote. Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of Tudor history is aware that there was a succession crisis - "the runaway libido of King Henry VIII" was not the cause of his marriages: he was ...
