Re: Interesting Conversation About an Early Returned Mission
I think that may be one of the reasons why the age of missionaries has been lowered. If the kids go basically right out of high school, they are leaving from their family Mormon bubble. They are still young, naïve, and willing to follow Church direction. Then they come home from their missions and ...

If the church doesn't want to be compared and accused of being a cult, they should stop acting like one.
The only things unique about Mormonism are its badges of being cultish.

Re: My Latest Word of Wisdom Experience
The church is for or against Cannabis sativa based solely on one of many different compounds within the plant. Raises a good point. What is the official position on MJ? We were told in a September meeting with two members of the seventy (one senior, and one an M.D.) that the Church doesn't have an ...

Re: F-Bombs Rain Down on lds.org
It shows, I think, how the current organizational model of the LDS Church no longer works. There may have been a time when this messiah business worked better, but this gaffe reveals how risible it is. Not only do people not show respect, but it is painfully obvious that the pat answers delivered i...

Re: F-Bombs Rain Down on lds.org

Re: Interesting Conversation About an Early Returned Mission
My sister stopped by to visit the other day. We do not see each other often so usually conversations center around what our respective families have been doing since the last time we saw each other. When the conversation got to her youngest son (about 23 years old) she mentioned he was still in sch...

Re: Did leaving religion change your ethics?
I would like to know rather if the posters on this board are divorced. While it is politically incorrect to say, and I'm embarrassed to make the argument, it seems there is a high correlation between (1) anonymous posters critical of the Church and (2) divorce. If I were to speculate, I'd say there...

Impressed for something that religion is supposed to be doing? It is like being impressed with medical doctors for curing patients.
When either happens, I am impressed--particularly when the stingy LDS church finally breaks down and gives to charity.
