I just finished reading Inside Scientology: The Story of America's Most Secretive Religion by Janet Reitman. Compared to L. Ron Hubbard, Brother Joseph was an amateur.

Re: If the Book of Mormon were true, what then?

I don't think you would get responses in the form of "If the Bible were true, then you should join church X." But that is precisely the claim that the LDS church is making, "If the Book of Mormon is true, then you should join the LDS church." I think most Christians would realiz...

Ah ok--- then what is your belief system? That would certainly help with communication.

Sure, I'll send you a PM, but probably not 'til later.

But you choose to do it my way when you confront Mormonism...why the double standard?

And for what it's worth, I'm not an athiest.

Re: If the Book of Mormon were true, what then?

Agreed. The CoJColDS is in total apostasy from the best of the Book of Mormon. Historically the book is out to lunch... You guys might have a point, there. I say MIGHT because your words would carry more weight if you weren't two of those interesting people who like to call BS on Mormonism, but who...

Re: Greg Smith, Dan Peterson, John Dehlin, & Lou

I can't imagine all those who went through a faith crisis before the internet and the support communities out there. People must have felt so isolated to have gone through these things "privately". That the goal of apologists and the church is for individuals to deal with these issues in ...

Re: Greg Smith, Dan Peterson, John Dehlin, & Lou

Personally, I would prefer they all went to Kevin Barney. Or someone like him. A wise, deep person. Someone thoughtful, spiritually mature. Someone who knows "where all the bodies are buried" (Barney's words) yet who has managed to find a workable solution. Nevo, would you be so kind as t...

Re: Elias, or in other words - I've changed the title...

I think you are picking an argument just for the sake of arguing. Certainly not. I’m here to examine ideas--the best way to examine an idea is to observe what happens when it collides with an opposing idea. I believe that Scripture and Catholic Tradition are sacred. I do not force others to adhere ...

Re: Did we have a pre-premortal existence?

Only Jesus had a premortal existence. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And ...
