I'm keeping a calorie count log and literally following my own advice. My goal is to drop 70,000 calories in two months because in May my wife and I will be attempting to hike a summit-a-day for ten days along the Wasatch. Right now I'm officially at 63,280 after 9 days. So, that puts me a little behind the power curve, but you'd be amazed at how much and how often one snacks or nibbles and it adds up quick if you're not paying attention. Phew.

Holy cats, that's great! You guys hiking plans are coming up fast and you're going to be ready! Pop an aspirin every day starting a few days before you begin and every day you're on the hike. It'll thin your blood and you'll feel better doing it! You're exactly right about snacking. I virtually keep nothing like cookies, chips, pretzels or whatever in the house, except I might cheat at it once a month. The snack food I eat is entirely boring. I mean I eat veggies and fruit for snacks or greek yogurt.

I disgust myself.

So one of my relatives said they were getting an RX for some weight loss thing. I just looked it up. It's an injectable medication of some kind.

https://www.saxendacare.com/login.html

This is what I wouldn't want to do. Maybe...if I had a significant amount of weight to lose and it would help jumpstart it? I dunno.

I much prefer what we're all doing, working on health/fitness, managing our diets and exercise. I actually don't have problems losing weight when I combine the two--daily diet/exercise. It sort of comes off one pound at a time. It might take me longer because I don't workout hard, but it DOES work.

Eat better/less, move more! Let's keep going guys!!

This is a great mindset you have here Jersey Girl. For continued health and weight maintenance these kinds of "quick fixes" rarely work because they require no mindset or habit changes.

Don't I know it!

I was reading up on that injectable and they cannot guarantee that it won't increase your risk of stroke or heart attack. How scary is that?

I try to work at this comprehensively. It's not just exercise and healthy eating. Basically, treat myself well.

Slow and steady wins the race, I say!

Does anyone use ground flaxseed? Where do you buy it?

Got a Sprouts or Trader Joe's nearby?

Also, your local grocer may carry it under the Bob's Red Mill label. That company's products have been increasing in availability at 'traditional' grocery stores.

Yes we have both! Will check at the grocery store and then hop over to Sprouts/TJ's! Thanks!

Might also be worth giving Amazon a look (especially if you have a Prime membership). I have most of our shelf stable regular items on "subscribe and save" and get an extra 15% off some already pretty good prices.

Pretty sure that I've seen both ground and whole flax seed at TJ's under their own label. Elsewhere the Red Mill label is pretty reliably available.

canpakes,

I found organic ground flaxseed at believe it or not Walmart!

:-)

Still want to poke around Sprouts. I have one nearby and have never been in it!
