I had 3 good days in a row of peace in the tummy. Until last night.

I made the Chicken Soup which is really a normal recipe for the most part and used gluten free noodles.

FORGET IT.

I had symptoms (not mild ones either) for 12 hours after eating what you might think of as half a bowl and when I woke up today I still had symptoms that didn't resolve until evening. Still a bit symptomatic as I write this at 6:30 pm.

The soup itself was as tasty as any time I've made it. The noodles are made with corn and rice if that means anything. They're going straight in the trash on pick up day.

I couldn't even believe the reaction I had. Tears were shed. Maybe a reason to continue another round of meds and possibly do food allergy testing though I've read that food allergy testing isn't an exact thing. I'll see what the gastro NP has to say on Thursday.

I really hope for another round of meds and will request it.

:( In sorry. This must be disappointing. The problem with allergy testing is that you can have non igE allergies. So you can test negative but still be allergic.

I am non igE allergic to latex. I'm also non igE allergic to latex fruits. Which I didn't realise was a thing. I just knew that kiwi and banana causes my mouth to sting and peel. My pinprick and blood tests say negative. But the gloves test was partially positive. My bloods say total igE was negligible which means that they can't rule out any allergies based on bloods because I have no allergy antibodies at all. When I had the testing done I had red patches on my body that were itchy but the test itself didn't show any hives. Two of the pin pricks began to react and had redness around but then faded away before the end of the test.

Do you use msg?
Have you had inflammatory markers checked?

ETA: antibiotics can cause tummy upset. Any side effects that could explain it?

My roommate had to do an elimination diet to figure out what was causing his Crohn’s-like symptoms. He has to stay away from a lot of spices, the biggest culprit being garlic.

Basically just eat what you know works and slowly add in new ingredients until you figure out what your triggers are. Of course it’s not always that easy because our biology isn’t that simple. But that’s the general idea.

I'm being treated for a severe bacterial infection in the gut. Had one round of a very pricey antibiotic and hoping for a second round. The effects of the infection trigger my afib/rvr. This has been going on for 1.5 years now which is why I started this thread one night out of sheer desperation.

Elimination diet, sure. I've been eating grilled chicken and sweet potatoes with absolutely nothing on them, oatmeal, and yogurt for maybe a month now. So...I added a new food. If you read my post above I made a supposedly Low FODMAP chicken soup with gluten free noodles (corn and rice flour) and it blew up my gut. That's what the recent posts are about.

I'm mainly using this thread as journal now. Appointment is tomorrow.

Gotcha, then that's probably completely different to whatever is going on with my friend. I think they said he had a gallbladder issue, but none of the doctors were definitive and it really depressed him that they basically threw up their hands.

It's actually a sort of miracle that as many of us are in good health, considering how complicated our bodies are. There's essentially infinite ways for the system to go wrong :(

Appointment today. Here's the scoop. Once again the NP listened carefully to everything I told her about treatment with Rifaximin and the recent reaction to the so-called Low FODMAP Chicken Noodle soup with gluten free noodles. Allergy testing is possible but I didn't request it this time. I was after another round of Rifaximin and she agreed that we should do that. Says she may have to do battle with the insurance company to get the authorization through but she's willing to fight for it on my behalf. Something about the period of time between treatments with regard to to insurance but she thinks she can override it.

You guys...if you're following the blow by blow here (sorry it's boring) I said that at the first appointment with her I went armed with research about Roemheld Syndrome and Gastro Cardiac research to back it up.

SHE RESEARCHED IT ON HER OWN. I know she did this because she quoted some of the studies and I recognize the information having read it multiple times.

This lady is solid GOLD! She said that she's convinced that there needs to be a two-pronged approach to the stuff I have going on. One from the gastro side and the other from the cardiology side. **I've been trying to get that through to cardiology for YEARS.**

So...based on her own research she recommended that I try to drive home the point with my cardiology practice (I can do that!) and that I try Gaviscon and Magnesium but with the Magnesium take half a dose to see how it goes. I told her that this 1.5 years with gut problems and the increase in episodes of afib/rvr kind of makes the case for me, so...I'll be armed with information and data for the cardio appointment next month.

I did complain how skinny I was and how my arms are wrinkly now. (Wore a t shirt top.) She said "I know...but GIRL look at your biceps!"

Anyway I continue to love her approach, her willingness to listen and respond, and to climb the pre-authorization for Rifaximin on my behalf. She's the first and ONLY healthcare provider who has gone off and researched more thoroughly what I shared with her. The ONLY one ever. If you ask me, that's pretty amazing!

87 pounds
and I'm still hungry over here. ;)

ETA: 2 Hours later. The Rifaximin is already ready for pick up! Thank the Lord!

3/4 of a turkey burger grilled with nothing on it. BIG TIME NO! Spent the night sitting up and trying to sleep in an armchair due to major tummy blow up at least 12 hours long. Thought I would end up in the ER with heart triggered but somehow managed to make it through. Exhausted.

Viewed the nutrition label.
High fat content.
Who would have thought that white meat turkey would have a high fat content? :o

Twice in one week I ate something stupid that I thought would be good. Nope!

Start Rifaximin.

I know, right? She always finds something positive in the misery! I do have well defined biceps and triceps but no wonder...there's not a smidge of fat on me so they show up?

Took the first dose of Rifaximin in the parking lot (car park) as soon as I picked it up! I absolutely believe this is the right thing to do! Thanks for keeping up with me, Pirate. I know you genuinely care. <3
