Great podcast on Blacks and the Priesthood

Post by _moksha »

Here is the podcast:

Here is a discussion of it at MAD: http://www.mormonapologetics.org/index.php?showtopic=31857

There is a lot of interesting historical data in the podcast. I would say that it is truly the starting point for understanding the issue and thus is a must see. John Dehlin has put together another great podcast.

I've listened to about half of it so far. I haven't seen the resolution to the question why Joseph Smith received a revelation in 1834 saying blacks could not receive the PH, yet he ordained Elijah Abel in 1836. Perhaps Coltrin's memory was defective?

Long podcasts require a lot of patience. I note that Dehlin speaks like a "TBM", but he's been very open about history after "recovering" from his own initial crisis of faith. I think he really believes Mormonism, but wants to get historical truth out in the open.

Darius Gray and Margaret Young are excellent on the podcast as well. Toward the end, you can palpably understand their long forbearance and hope. It is long but well worth it.

Okay, you convinced me. I'll listen to the rest of it. I'm really getting to like Dehlin. This guy may be signs of the future of Mormonism, or "a" future for Mormonism.
