Imwashingmypirate, if you're going to start a thread, please post some of your own information rather than just a link. For example, what do you want us to learn from that link? Why is that link important or significant? Is the information in that link true, or is it false, and why?

Don't just hit-and-run.

Shades. It is very difficult for me to do that. So I am guessing my "hit and run" is an improvement. I was hoping people would express there opinion and I discuss from there. but I will give it a go. See what happens. I find it hard to come up with serious on topic discussion on the spot, and thus my random crap. I guess that is what life does to you.

If Joseph Smith had the seer stones then why did he not use them to translate these plate?

Is this really evidence that Joseph Smith was a hoax? What if the finders were claiming after Joseph Smith's death that they were a hoax and were lying.

I am just trying to produce some discussion here. I will always stick by, "it's what you read and gain from it that matters". But hey I am interested in learning.

In that case, it will help if you answer all of those questions, then give us the reason you answered them that way. Then you can ask for others' opinions of the strength or weakness of your answers. Let's continue with what you wrote:

If Joseph Smith had the seer stones then why did he not use them to translate these plate?

That's a good question. Why do you think he didn't translate them, assuming he had the seer stone?

Is this really evidence that Joseph Smith was a hoax?

Another great question. What is your answer, and why do you answer that way?

What if the finders were claiming after Joseph Smith's death that they were a hoax and were lying.

A great question indeed; it's the exact same one that B. H. Roberts of the 1st Quorum of the Seventy asked. Do you have any proof or evidence that they were lying? Or, on the other hand, do you have any proof or evidence that they were telling the truth?

(Hint: One of the plates was rediscovered in a museum back in the 1960s. Forensic tests were done on the plate which proved that it was from a 19th Century blacksmith shop and thus that the hoaxers were telling the truth.)
