Why do you suppose temple work...

Post by _just me »

Why do you think proxy temple work is being done for people like Brigham Young and his wives over and over and over again? If you look on old familysearch you can find several submissions for these people in the 1990's.

Do members REALLY think it is necessary to do proxy work for early church leaders? Is it a "star struck" type thing? Do people fail to make a connection?

What is your best guess?

Where do you find out how many times Brigham Young and any of his wives were proxy baptized?

I know the practice goes on as I once had a friend go with me to the Genealogy library and he showed me where the persons we had been proxy baptized for had been done 6 and 7 times before.

Busy work to make people feel useful.

That seems most bizarre. Why would a Prophet who held all of the keys
even require proxy baptism/s? Perhaps there is not enough proxy work
to go around. I would have thought that all of those dear souls who have
passed on and are in Morg records have been baptised by now?

I remember seeing the copy of the Book of Mormon that was presented to Queen Victoria, on display in a special exhibition at the Royal Library Archive at Windsor Castle. I wonder if they baptised her? I'll bet she's not amused.

If you are a member you can sign in with your membership number and access the actual dates proxy work has been done. A simple search for Brigham Young or one of the wives will turn up what your looking for.

I was mostly noticing how many of the marriages have been proxy sealed. One wife that I looked at hasn't been done any more at all. Another wife has been redone 10 times.

Malcom, yup, Queen Victoria has been done. ;)
