Been reading this afternoon about various religious groups including us Mormons being concerned that the government would force us to be accepting of gay people. Read one Mormon Times article bemoaning the ruling that an evangelical (or Mormon) wedding photographer could not refuse service to gays.
I know these groups are concerned, so I was wondering about the question of whether the government should force religious groups to do the morally right thing? Why should our rights to discriminate be abridged by these "do gooders"?

We already accept "gay" people. Forced Socialism is the real danger.

Then would you agree that government shouldn't be telling people who they can marry?
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

I don't think that's government's job, no.

Why not?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Why not?
Something to do with the Constitution and civil rights perhaps.

australians have the right to discriminate.
for 1 reason. no aclu.
in australia discrimination is done openly. there is no way to stop it anywhere so why should people fight an impossible battle. there you can openly be prejudice against anyone regardless of religion, race, age, sex, sexual orientation, hadicap, or stereotype. an employer can post on the employee work board. if you are Mormon, over the age of 39, native or drive a yellow holden ute. i will fire you.
its is like that in the land down under because prejudice happens everywhere and it wont ever stop.
also in my opinion australia has a superb educational system. upon highschool graduation every student is given an accumulative knowledge test along with a type of i.q. test the student then gets a number which determines what that person can study at a university. this system keeps 'intelligent hard workers' making decisions that affect the lives of other people. lazy/dumb people have no shot, lazy/smart people have no chance, rich/smart people, rich/lazy poeple, they all have no chance of screwing up another persons life or affecting civil matters by their monetary class/career choices.
