You are gambling that the Mormon religion is right and that it is the pony in the race that has the best chance of getting you back to live with Heavenly Father.
Okay, I'll bite. I am not gambling that Mormonism is the best pony in the race; it literally is seeing as how it's the only one to be in harmony with the Bible. I am gambling that God exists just as atheists are gambling that God does not exist. I'm in a better position here though because I believe I've "seen" (sensed) part of that hand whereas an atheist does not believe it's possible to get a glimpse of that hand.
You also take a gamble when you offer your 10%, that it will be spent how you think it will be spent.
The money is being spent how I think it should be spent. No gamble there.
So it would seem that my risk is quite minimized. I keep good track of the cards that have been dealt and played.
Can we start a new thread where BC proves that Mormonism is the most biblical of Christian religions? And then show how Christianity is more valid then say zoroastrianism?
It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener at war.
Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality. ~Bill Hamblin
The problem with equating gambling with faith is this: there's gambling as in Las Vegas, there's investing as in the stock market, and there's faith, as in the Lord Jesus Christ. What's the difference? In gambling, one has to, at least tacitly, hope for the failure and loss of his brothers and sisters. When you go out of the casino with $1,000, it's not the casino's money: it's the money of those going out with you with sour looks on their faces. With investing, at least you hope for the success of your brother rather than his failure. With faith in Christ; you're putting yourself out for an infinite and eternal future beyond what is here. No one has to fail to make you successful; the investment you're making can never be taken from you via future investments or the devaluation of a currency. To equate gambling with faith in Christ is like saying a meal out of a dumpster in back of an Arizona restaurant on a hot summer day is the same as dinner at the Four Seasons in New York City. Food, yes, but what a difference.
