Perhaps you're referring to Jeremiah 31:1 "At the same time, saith the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people." This is written in the context of the gathering in the last days.

Thanks. It's a good one. Pretty sure it's not it though.

I believe there is an Old Testament verse, in Isaiah If I recall correctly, which shows families in the context of the millennium or the hereafter. Can't remember exactly where it is though.

I read through them, but was hoping for some clearly defined doctrine that stated what I was taught to believe. I was taught that husband, wife and children would be reunited and live together in the CK. Now while this makes for a large extended family all living together under one roof (cloud) and Uncle Bill would probably not be much fun to live with, I am surprised that there is no clearly defined doctrine that states specifics.

The Proclamation to the World is more about defining the family in this current state of temporal existence and there is some question as to if this is doctrine anyway, considering that BKP retracted his declaration of it being doctrine in conference. Sometimes I wished the church created a church sanctioned book of doctrine or catechism for the church. Do the first few letters of catechism represent the word CATholic? Would the LDS book of doctrine be called morechism?

Why don't you search the doctrine then (manuals etc.)? By definition, doctrine is the interpretation of scripture and therefore is more authoritative than scripture (more detailed as well.

D&C 132 is pretty clear. I'm fairly certain you've not actually checked the doctrine though.

The Church has defined official doctrine as that which is published by the Church. There are a variety of publications printed or online that are lists of doctrine. For example, you could go to LDS.org, pull down the menu, select study by topic and go to marriage. Right at the beginning it says:

When a man and woman are married in the temple, their family can be together forever.

It goes on to elucidate further and provides more scriptural and doctrinal references to explore. Our doctrine is quite systematic.

The Church did sanction a book clarifying Mormon doctrine. It was called Mormon Doctrine. It retained its status as THE book to reference and clarify Mormon doctrine along with the exhortation of the leaders for all members to have a copy in their home until: 1. the Mormon doctrine of excluding people from the Priesthood based on their race became embarrassing and 2. The author died. Now Mormon Doctrine is treated as anti Mormon doctrine material.
