2 Nephi 31:14 seems to explicitely refer only to those who have been born again, but 3 Nephi 28 seems to refer to all who fail to heed any true prophets.
And if it would be better for them if they had never been born, it would seem that they're all sop.
But D&C 132:26 says:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man marry a wife according to my word, and they are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, according to mine appointment, and he or she shall commit any sin or transgression of the new and everlasting covenant whatever, and all manner of blasphemies, and if they commit no murder wherein they shed innocent blood, yet they shall come forth in the first resurrection, and enter into their exaltation; but they shall be destroyed in the flesh, and shall be delivered unto the buffetings of Satan unto the day of redemption, saith the Lord God.
Emma Smith never received Brigham Young as a prophet (and according to him she burned this revelation), but I don't think she ever shed innocent blood, denied Christ, or even denied that her husband was a prophet.
Will she come forth in the first resurrection and enter into her exaltation (after being delivered to the buffetings of Satan unto the day of redemption), or will it have been better for her if she had never born?
What about those I've sent the missionaries to when they've asked me if I knew of anyone who might benefit from the restored Gospel?
If they don't "receive them," would it have been better for them if they had never born?
Is that all it takes to be an sop?

Re: 3 Nephi 28:33-34
My favourite section...
Used last yesterday in Elders Quorum...
The guy was teaching the whole we are Gods children, you can be like him, you can become Gods speech.
He read out D&C132:20
20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.
I interrupted the teacher and ask for a background for the scripture, he looked all flustered and said "It is about Eternal Marriage, Celestial Marriage."
I said "Really,Eternal Marriage?" he said "Yes, Marriage in the Temple or Temple Marriage."
I said "Really? not another kind of Marriage?"
He swiftly changed the subject.
It pisses me off, that the chapter heading is extremely misleading.
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded 12 July 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, and also the plurality of wives (see History of the Church, 5:501–7). Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831
TBMs claim this is about Temple Marriage the sealing of Husband and Wife in the Temple, and choose to ignore the fact the section already has an introduction into what it is about in verse 1.
1 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many awives and bconcubines—
Verse 4, being my favourite.
4 For behold, I reveal unto you a new and an everlasting acovenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye bdamned; for no one can creject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory.
Even though it is an abomination in Jacob 2:24
24 Behold, David and aSolomon truly had many bwives and concubines, which thing was cabominable before me, saith the Lord.
But again cleverly the Chapter heading clears it up for TBMs.
Jacob denounces the love of riches, pride, and unchastity—Men may seek riches to help their fellowmen—Jacob condemns the unauthorized practice of plural marriage—The Lord delights in the chastity of women. About 544–421 B.C.

At yesterday's Elders Quorum lesson, of the twenty people in attendance I counted eight of them otherwise engaged on electronic devices of one sort or another rather than the lesson content.
