I'm sorry Mak , but a few days back I granted Jason absolute authority to determine and decree by fiat who is christian.
Mea culpa.

I hope you got a couple bucks for it.

Jason15,
One thread at a time. You are not even keeping up on your original thread.
But I will ask you this: is the Westboro Baptist Church a Christian church?

That's very interesting. How many Temple Lot Mormons are there? (I'm a plain vanilla Mormon, at least officially.)sleepyhead wrote:maklelan wrote:I really don't care if you say Joseph Smith was in error. I care what you tell me what I am and am not allowed to call myself.
Hello maklelan,
I'm a member of the Church of Christ(temple lot). This is one of the many offshoots of the original 1830 church. Should I be allowed to call myself a Mormon? According to a press release of the LDS church I shouldn't be.

I can't speak for individuals, but any organization that spreads vitriol and hate in the name of God....I believe are NOT Christian.....that said there may be Christians in the organization that don't hold those vitriolic beliefs. I know most Christians distance themselves from such hatred.
To be honest Megs, I do not know much about that church's doctrine of salvation and such, so can't give a definitive response.

You do not know much about Mormonism, either, Jason15, but you are quick to pronounce judgement on us.

Yes, excellent point. It's very telling that Jason hesitates to pass judgment against Westboro Baptist Church, but has no qualms against calling Mormons anti-Christian.Megacles wrote:Jason15 wrote:To be honest Megs, I do not know much about that church's doctrine of salvation and such, so can't give a definitive response.

Jason, there's a word for this kind of behavior...

Hello Erotic,
I don't know how many members they have now. Except for forums I'm not active in any Mormon churches. I joined the LDS church in 1972. After being active for about a year I quit going. I joined the Church of Christ in 1976. The decision was poorly thought out. They only had a few thousand members. There were no churches in the area where I lived. I went to a few "reunions" and enjoyed them. Eventually I stumbled into the Edgar Cayce material and these writings have provided a great deal of value to me. If your interested in the C of C then here is there website.
