Distantly related subject have you ever seen research on the Rejang script and language? Lots of West Semitic and Egyptian cognates in Rejang vocabulary. A script that is of Phoenician origin that sort of thing. Sir Thomas Raffles apparently found a stone or two with Demotic Egyptian characters. Sumatra sounds like kind of a riveting universe of its own, and it's on the doorsteps of the Malay peninsula. Anyway, I bring it up because most every alphabet and abugida out there can be said to be "reformed Egyptian", but nowadays the linguists refer to "proto-siniatic" and some such.
