To answer your post (and sorry if I miss anything) I don't think you know that god doesn't exist, like I implied in my thread. I don't think you know for sure, and I imagine you have some doubts from time to time. Maybe not, but I know that you aren't the kind of guy to lie to yourself. Whether you KNOW god exists or not - I don't see how you could possibly claim to "know" something like that for certain. I have no doubt that you believe it, I just don't think you (or anyone else) can use the word "know" in this context.
As far as religion making you a better person, well I think too highly of you to give religion credit for that. No doubt you would be a great guy as an atheist, Mormon, or democrat! Seriously. Ok, enough for now, my thumbs hurt.
