Re: The Mother of all Dittographs
As I suspected he would, maklelan has reported me to the moderators. He has a history of this type of behavior, even when his opponents are TBMs. I suppose this is my fault really, for violating my policy of not responding to such people. As of now, I am reimplementing my policy and will endeavor to stick to it.

Congratulations, Mortal Man, wear it as another badge of honor. Heck, I suppose you've got a couple of silver feathers by now given how full your sash has become. mak is a whiny tattle-tale whose arrogance knows no bounds.

A better policy would be for you to not participate in debates where your argument is obviously the weaker one. I've followed the threads over at MADB and all I could ever do is keep shaking my head in disbelief after almost every one of your posts. It's really hard for me to accept that you seriously believe that the things you're saying are logically sound. Maklelan was making you look silly and so you started resorting to what I'm sure you thought were clever little quips. But you never did provide a single bit of evidence foryour repeated assertion that the manuscripts are from dictation. You just kept saying it but you've never explained why it is you think it is so obvious. And the crazy twists and turns of the explanation you have for the dittograph are basically ridiculous. That you really put so much stock in what is just a huge pile of speculation is,well, very very hard to believe. But I guess you have your reasons.

Mak is barely out of his teenage years and it shows. "You must respond to every point I make or I will hurl insults at you and whine until you weep for mercy."
It was nice to see Metcalfe chime in and give him a good solid kick in his arrogant little ass.

Thank you William, for your generous insights. Rest assured I'll consider them for precisely what they're worth. (My "clever little quips" were, in fact, a vain attempt to get mak to lighten up.)
by the way, I've just updated my posts here and here. If anyone can find anything that doesn't fit the evidence, or can offer a more plausible scenario, I'd appreciate your feedback.

Andrew,
Nomad is offended by you referring to him as though he and I are the same entity. I am likewise offended. But for different reasons. Please refrain from confusing us in the future, upon peril of ... something.
Anyway, to be quite honest, it is my fondest hope and fervent prayer that the things you have been arguing vis-a-vis this dittograph are indicative of Metcalfe's thinking on the matter, and that he will eventually publish these interpretations. I sincerely hope that there is nothing I could say that would cause you (and him) to change his mind in terms of this theory you have articulated on this topic.
by the way, since you are (apparently) in frequent contact with your mentor (Metcalfe) I hope he understands that my invitation to debate is still on the table. I hope he understands that I have removed my previously expressed precondition for him to publish (in some fashion) his counter-arguments to the things I argued in my FAIR presentation.
For further elaboration on my debate invitation, see this post, made several weeks ago: Schryver/Metcalfe Debate Terms/Conditions
