Re: Universe as a reflection of Yin and Yang
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I can't argue with any of it, while I can't endorse all of it.
You see a bit of me -- I am somewhat of a materialist (aren't we all?) but I sense the spiritual in our individual AND societal evolution.
Is it, "the still small voice"? Is it "the light-bulb-moment"? Is it the collective intelligence that bridges gaps of knowledge to culminate in new discovery? All or none of the above?
I really can't say with certainty.
But 70+ years of experiencing life in varied social, vocational and professional environments has confirmed the power of ones mind / spirit when facing challenges and aspirations.
Which brings me back to my thoughts / theory re Nature & Nurture. Expressed several years ago in my book, Copulating Luck In Our Sort-of Christian World. A book that I hope to soon revise as a new-and-better product :-)
A devoted Mormon, with a renegade reputation, for several decades. Maturity opened up my pragmatic side that could not abide religious stagnating traditions. It is obvious that the sciences have revealed more truth(s) than have churches and their officers. Most of whom never had an original thought in their lives. More Yinish, playing the negative cards of fear, guilt, punishment, sin, suffering and suppression that tends to spirit destruction than to enjoying the positives of being fully human: Yang.
No one can do more, for themselves and others, than to emit joyous, uninhibited positive vibes into the Universe. As humans evolve and mature leaving fears, guilt, prejudices, meaness and ignorance behind, the visions of sages will materialize. So yes, I AM a Universal Materialist :-)
Nice thinking with You!
Roger

I care and I don't care
If you contemplate the nature of good and evil, you can see that to care is under the definition of love, or Yang, and to not care is under the definition of hate,A little, if not too, strong. I suggest "indifference" is more prevalent than 'hate' and thus curtails serious Yang stuff more than raw-hate... or Yin. If you dissect caring and not caring and look at how this relates to how you live your life. If you were to analyze how much you care for life, care for others, care about yourself, care about the world and the planet, then you can get a bearing for how much you are in a state of Yang. Unfortunately, most people 'care' for their life, their friends, their state of being, their tribe, their everything. So can classify themselves as caring Yangers. If you analyze in what areas you do not care, if you don't care about others, certain people or just people in general, do not care about life, yours or others, don't care about the life of the planet or other creatures on it (plants and animals for example), don't care about how your actions affect others, then we can get a pretty good idea of how much Yin you have allowed to become part of your life. I think the above types are really a minority and do not pose the greatest threat???
Not caring has a nice white dot that promises profit or pleasure That's our social-economic system. Freedom to profit from initiative, investment, etc... at the expense of others, The way it is. The way of competitive free-enterprise -- exploitation... or the expense of the environment (of which we are a part of, so not caring about it shows a lack of caring about self or others). Not caring is cool. For example, in some gang initiations it is looked at as a cool honorable thing to do to randomly take someone’s life. The cold blooded hard attitude is looked at as strength. It’s shows one is “tough” when they show indifference towards others. Extreme example that over-all bears little on the Universe... Although the white dot can be alluring, one can reflect on the nature of Yin and Yang and realize that the nature of Yin is foolishness, insanity, and stupidity. Bolded make up a disproportionate share of humanity. Hence, slooow evolution... Dumb is cool, that is for sure, but it is better to be wise and live a life of Yang. In order to do this the black dot that hides the true nature of caring has to be ignored. It takes work to care, is not always convenient, seems unnatural, is looked at as weak, and has a lot of other negative things going for it. Most of which base our competitive, exploiting enterprise system. Long ago established on the right of the mighty who are made so by Divine Right...YIKES!! Caring though, living a life of love and charity, and living the principles of Yang, will cause the soul and heart to be filled with peace and joy, which is what Yang offers as a reward. Seems we have balanced that fairly well. Maybe more so than/them ever?? Social programs against poverty, ignorance, ill-health, etc... It’s certainly better than the turmoil, emptiness and despair that fills the being of those who don’t care. Are they the folks who oppose social assistance programs and decry paying taxes to advance human infra structure?? The ultimate fate of those who don’t care is hollowness, misery, and death from apathy. Followed by a grand funeral, attended by prominent right-wing politicians and religionists touting his Christian goodness and business success... Some what facetious, but ya know wadimsayin??
Warm regards,
Roger M.

Which dot is man, which dot is woman, and why?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Ezias, you said:
"Although I disagree with many of your opinions, I respect your dissection of my comments. I have different political views, am libertarian, and practically anarchist, so I don’t think you will get any sympathy regarding giving the government more power. I think laws should only be in place to protect the freedom and safety of others, not anything else. I am quite anti big brother. So, if big brother likes to read these posts I’ll just say screw you I still have free speech! The government is a bunch of incompetent Yinners for the most part." (Bold added by RM0
One thing to keep in mind, we live in, and post from, different countries. You, USA. Me, Canada. Secondly, we are influenced by our social, political and familial environments. If we were to switch places of residency, chances are we might change our thoughts and feelings?
The bolded in your statement I totally agree with! I am very anti-authoritarian! Which it seems you describe as "Big Brother"??? A more colorful term that generalizes within broad parameters that tend to cloud, rather than clarify real issues.
In the purpose of safety, speed limits are acceptable. Yet many oppose security cameras at busy traffic corners siteing loss of freedom?? Wearing motorcycle helmets, driving with headlights on during daytime, smoke-free-environments, are known to save lives. Yet are resisted by an element touting, "FREEDOM!" WHY?
It seems fear and distrust of strangers and governments tends to stimulate a lot of negative behavior in the USA against the system designed to assure freedom & safety of its citizens? Why?
How to remedy?? Change the system (of the Greatest Country in THE world :-). Or, educate the masses better? Seems ignorance is USA's most self-destructive force. Put more funds into education and less into militaryism. . .
Problem isn't "Big Brother". Problem is "Big Daddy" (Corporate Powers) that want MORE wealth. They manipulate other greedy wealth seekers on lessor levels. Which has left the USA little but an economic entity. . . A long way from Yangism. Give Obama a chance!
As a freedom loving, semi-humanitarian Canadian sees it. . .
