Re: Up or Down with Women's Pant Suits at Church?
Hey Guys, Nice to read yas! Begs the questions: How long, and what will it take to truly see enlightenment in, "the world's only true church"?
Me thinks, possibly when 'leaders' called have been born within the last 3 - 4 decades??? AND hold degrees in the social sciences???

Roger, your prediction would then be contingent upon the longevity and state of enlightenment of Elder David Bednar. From his conference talks, I wish Elder Dieter Uchtdorf an extremely long life.

Mok, I've been wrong before :-) Actually Bednar has disappointed me.
Not that familiar with Uchtdorf. Maybe being European does make a difference?
I'd endorse almost anyone at your say-so! Ya got a line-up of candidates?
Roger

I did know one woman that wore a Trouser-Suit to church, but she had some medical problem with her legs.
Perhaps she had been granted some sort of Medical Recommend?

Up with the pant suits, down with cultural norms with have nothing to do with salvation. Up with colored shirts. I'm also into "calling-equity" (like pay-equity, but without the pay) for women.
Plus I'm into fashion-equity between men and women, particularly in light of lightning standards for female missionaries:

The new improved general handbook, more liberal ideas about not having to lay your family relationship on the altar for Church callings, and now this article -- are we leaving a long period of retrenchment....I hope so!

Hi UnicornMan!
Welcome to MDB!
Thanks for the link to the New Style Standards for LMs. . .
Maybe that bit of enlightenment will lead to an honest assessment of male missionary attire?
It can be hoped.
A non-member friend said he would rather see 2 JWs at his door than the FBI, Body-guard looking LDS missionaries. Understandable.
I live in a Condo Apartment building -- as a non-attending, long-ago-LDS, who is often sought out by new missionaries, wanting to meet ALL of the Branch Members. I am of course cordial, and it does opportune teaching moments for me to help them better understand LDSism from a non-believers position.
Point is, whenever the Blues Brothers' look-alikes appear at the Entrance Intercom, we are informed countless times by neighbors, looking out for our safety, that two big men dressed in black were trying to find us. . .
"...Oh, those guys. They just look villainous. They're really harmless and quite nice..."
Other than proving their faith by obedience to an irrelevant archaic IBM/FBI dress code; What constructive purpose is served by adherence to this uniform, in North America?
Unicornman: You sound/feel like a breath of fresh air! For the sake of LDSism's future I hope to see more Mormons with your qualities. Don't be discouraged by the inevitable criticism you will receive.
Obviously, this is a snap judgment on my part. But at the moment, I like what I see. . .
Hang in!
Warm regards,
Roger M.

I think it depends on the activity at church. If they are about to attend regular mass it is better that they should wear skirt. However, they can wear pants on other gatherings.

So where are you at on this issue?
I don't mind women wearing pants to Church or pant suits to sacrament meetings.

I disagree.
Up with skirts and down with pants, I say.

Ha ha.
Sure. But if they want to wear pants, I'm fine with that. Just not in the marriage. ;)
