Re: More Mormon Idiocy
So it is ironic that we're not criticizing every numb nut on youtube?
I'll jump in on it, now that I'm aware of it. I think she is an idiot just looking for attention. She got it.
The reason people here focus more on comments made by LDS leaders probably has something to do with the title of the forum, which last I checked, isn't "youtube discussions."

I think Dan Peterson just has more time on his hands than most BYU professors, Mormon bishops, MI editors, book authors, Islamic speakers, cruise ship guides, fireside speakers and Olivewood Bookstore autographers ---- than most doing such!!
Just checked, he and I joined this board at the same time. For every post I have - he's got 12!! Wish I had his job!!!

Hmmm. No, I don't think so.
Why do you ask?
Has somebody said that?

That's probably partly because nobody seems to care much about you here, your threads usually die after at most a handful of further posts, and people seldom respond to what you write.
That's an odd sort of triumph.

Honestly, Dan, why do you engage in this sort of pettiness?

It's not petty. It is, rather sadly, the truth.
Joey posts almost nothing but rather juvenile personal insults aimed at me -- and particularly aimed at my professional life.
What he posts just isn't interesting. Even the critics don't pay much attention. He would profit by understanding that.
Incidentally, why the double standard? Does anybody ever criticize Joey for his constant insubstantial yipping at me? Have you ever said anything about it? Even very gently?

Dan,
I do not understand the relationship between your thread title and the utube video. Unless I am mistaken the girl in the video was Catholic.

I agree with Dr. Peterson, that she is not Mormon. While the overall sentiment sounds like something you might hear on the MAD board, she never the less used the term "Lent" and she was neither wearing a CTR ring nor had a picture of a Nordic Jesus in the visible viewing area. These clues add up to proof as clearly as NHM.
She was a nonmormon kook! So take that you nonmormons!!!

Well, actually, (yes, I am compelled to well-actually you), I have challenged critics if they are making bad arguments. But the problem with the pettiness is that it detracts from what I would think would be your primary purpose in participating in these forums: defending and promoting Mormonism. What do you think your ratio is of substantive posts dealing with real issues related to Mormonism to personal attack posts? Even if we assume that most of the personal attacks are true, don't you think providing a positive case and defending Mormonism are more important objectives?
