[This paper, originally given as a talk at Sunstone Symposium, Summer 2001, is not definitive; I have much to learn on politics, so would be interested in hearing responses from both Democrat and Republican readers. Part of the reason I am placing a preliminary version of this paper on the internet is to allow interested readers to help me refine it (in preparation for eventual publication, hopefully). If Republicans have arguments or information that counter the opinions expressed here, I would be very interested in having such readers contact me with their perspectives.]

I didn't make the assertion that Boyd K Packer was a Democrat and link to an unsourced preliminary paper. You look pretty silly here Drifting and have demonstrated you have no interest in presenting factual evidence. Is this how you research all your posts? A legitimate researcher would link to a paper with footnotes that could be checked, but you can't even manage that.
"You lack vision, but I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night.... Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see. My God, it'll be beautiful." -- Judge Doom

You are quite right, but even then it's significantly more than you!
In terms of the OP question, 'can an Apostle be a Democrat?', what's your well thought out referenced response?

Among the present-day General Authorities, the following are Democrats: Seventy Marlin Jensen; (and here's a surprise) Apostle Boyd K. Packer[55]; First Presidency counselor James E. Faust.[56]
That was back when a Democrat could be a conservative. Not possible today as even one with the best of intentions runs afoul of Romans 1:32.

Agreed. All Democrats/liberals should leave the church immediately.

Which I supported.

While the scripture doesn't really say it, I am pretty sure Bcspace was referring to the days before the Civil Rights Act, in which one could be a proud Dixiecrat. These folks now fit in best with the social conservatives of the Republican Party.
Wonder what President Packer's take on Log Cabin Republicans would be?
