But I clearly meant that "Just me" was interested in magic sticks. :P

Since divining rods were used by some people in the scriptures and who were close to Smith, I added that.
I am veeeery interested in magic sticks. Yes I am.
ETA: Plus, I forgot that Tobin has me on ignore. I guess my question will go unanswered.

Tobin is just making things up again. God didn't give Joseph his special rocks, but I agree with Mktavish only to the extent that faith in then can help to create the experience in your head. Joseph never really did find any treasure with them.

You are being completely disingenuous Themis (as usual).

Most Mormons are aware that Joseph Smith claimed that God gave the Urim and Thummim to him. Your statement above is just another example of the clear and unambiguous deceit you always operate under. You are incapable of honestly representing what is commonly understood in any way.

What is usual is you are incorrect again. I know what the LDS church teaches as well as what Joseph and others claim. Certainly Joseph claims to have been given the U & T, but the issue was directly talking about his special rocks. You should be more specific if you want to say the U & T.

My post was clear. Ancient people would have used the U & T too. I am not responsible for your reading and comprehension problems.Themis wrote:What is usual is you are incorrect again. Yet no where do you mention it, and the whole discussion was referring to Joseph seer stones. Justme's question specifically asked you about the magic stones and sticks. I'm not the one with a reading problem here.

Re: It's not the “what” but it's the “who”
This is a Mormon discussion forum. It is commonly known (or should be known) that Joseph Smith used the U & T in the translation process (the rock in the hat); hence my comment specifically mentioning that these devices were used in ancient times by people wearing a veil. At some point I have to assume I'm not addressing someone that is completely lacking in any understanding or knowledge about this topic. Clearly, in your case, I won't make that assumption. Just to be clear - I was speaking about the U & T. Now, you should be able to understand what I was speaking to Dcharle about.Themis wrote:Yet no where do you mention it, and the whole discussion was referring to Joseph seer stones.
