Subgenius, is there a specific LDS ministry that is designated to work with the homeless in that link? If so, I could not find it. However, I am delighted that LDS individuals have worked with the Catholic St. Vincent DePaul effort in helping the homeless. Kudos to these members for doing this good work.

For many years, The Church has been actively involved in humanitarian relief and development activities throughout the world. These include emergency relief assistance in times of disaster and humanitarian programs that strengthen the self-reliance of individuals, families, and communities.

Humanitarian projects are funded by donations from Church members and others. One-hundred percent of these donations go directly to help the poor and needy. In-kind material assistance is provided through items donated by Church members and others.

Church humanitarian efforts relieve suffering for families of all nationalities and religions and offer hope with the potential for a better life for millions of people around the world.

How much, in donated $Dollars, gets spent on the above type of activity vs how much was spent on, say, City Creek?

Well. We know the Church has allocated $1.4 Billion dollars (total of cash, materials and time) to humanitarian causes and projects for the period 1985 - 2011.
How does that compare to the money spent on building an upmarket shopping mall in downtown Salt Lake City?

EDIT: The Church used to produce a "Provident Living Fact Sheet" which showed the expenditure. It seems these have been removed from the internet. Can anyone find it?

money for city creek pales in comparison, even when its complete budget is valued.
You also conveniently assign a value to voluntary man-hours offered by the church, as well as the references noted above.....not to mention that which is given at the ward levels by way of the storehouse and flat-out rent checks.

You have become so entrenched that you are your worst enemy and can only derive pleasure through the criticism of others....for which you should heed the old adage "doctor, heal thyself".
And save the false posturing about your charity being exemplified by your support of hungry kids in Africa, because dropping your change from last night's liquor store purchase into a can next to the cash register does not really elevate you.
