Sept. 25 shoots off the new season of the polygamous family now relocated to Las Vegas, and their ensuing troubles, as all four wives have publically stated they prefer living in separate quarters now, unlike how they lived in Utah. One even pronounced her husband's preference for the new, number four wife, who happens to have a really cute figure, unlike the others. It'll be on TLC. I'm keeping that date open...

Marg, I'm confused.

Are you trying to make a point about what the FLDS are doing in terms of polygamy? Or are you trying to say that Joseph Smiths version of polygamy (virtually the same as the FLDS version today) wasn't all that bad?

There is no system of polygamy that doesn't treat women like cattle, marg. So expand your worldview to take on Muslim polygamy, too.

Yes, 14 year old girls entered into polygamy with Joseph Smith unwillingly, or, willingly at their father's behest. They weren't idiots. They knew of other options.

Sounds like the 14 year old FLDS girls who have repeated the cycle with Jeffs.

Ri-i-i-i-i-ight.

Jeffs undid himself by narcissistically videoing himself having sex with a 12 year old. He had two other wives present. Can you imagine being a grown mother, watching such an obscene thing?? They blotted out the girl's face, but showed it to the jury.

I think you are incorrect in that Harmony. I don't think every polygamous system is set up to treat women as cattle. I gave some examples in a previous post why it might be the lesser of evils in some situations.

While I'm no expert on Muslim polygamy it does have limits and rules to protect women that was never a part of LDS polygamy.

http://www.islamfortoday.com/polygamy5.htm

"It is fair also to say that polygamy may be harmful in many respects. Islam, however, does not regard polygamy as a substitute for monogamy. Realising its disadvantages Islam allows it under strict conditions and when no better alternative is available. This is actually consistent with a general rule in Islamic Law, "The Lesser of Two Evils." This means that if a harm is certain, and if there is no way to avert such harm unless some other harm is done, then it is better to cause the lesser harm in order to avoid the greater. It is like a captain who gets rid of the ship’s freight in order to save the lives of the sailors."

I have no idea where you get the idea I am arguing "Joseph Smiths version of polygamy (virtually the same as the FLDS version today) wasn't all that bad".

I think Smith's and FLDS are the same polygamous system and it's extremely hateful against women.

To site online publications or articles that state certain types of polygamy is better than others is ridiculous. Any religious leader can claim something is true, and we all know that doesn't necessarily mean it is. And has anyone ever heard of a muslim man being kicked out of his community because he beat his wife? We all know muslim women are second class in the home because it's designed to be that way, just as married women in the Bible were treated as slaves, and rarely left the home, never attended public meetings, and, in many cases, didn't even speak to their husbands. We have to look at religion and expect that culturally it will improve just as society does, in some areas, and if the religion never changes culturally, we have a problem.

I guess it was when you said this:
I pointed out I viewed Smith like a modern day rock star in which women likely were quite willing to bed with him..and didn't not look upon it as abuse, nor were they abused.
