So how do you know the Bible is God's word? Do you think you know it is from what you believe is the Holy Spirit. It's a simple question you have avoided many times.
LittleNipper wrote:How can one preach what one doesn't fully understand? To become a good witness one must get rooted the Bible and be able to explain it when questions are asked. I may not understand everything; however, over time the Holy Spirit has revealed things to me and has placed teachers in the my life's journey. I was saved at a young age and over time God increased my understanding as I looked in the Bible to answer questions my friends asked and enemies hurled at me. I have had upsets and trials but every time God has brought me back to His Word and His Word only. It is true and I fully believe it.
Hello LittleNipper!
Exactly! They can't. It is so good to see that you do listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When we are honest with ourselves and truly consider what our beliefs "look like" so that we CAN give others answers, that is when our seeking for those answers opens our heart and our minds. This allows the Holy Spirit to touch our spirit with more Truth. I don't understand everything either. However, I have faith that when I am ready, more and more will be revealed to me until All Truth has been revealed. It is through the upsets and the trials that not only is our faith tested; but also when we become more teachable (if we are humble and contrite) about specific things we very much need to learn. Isn't it an awesome journey?!!!

Themis,
You ask the same questions and make the same accusations every time you can get a person who has spiritual discernment to respond to you. You need to stop your mantras and accusations. You will not be able to recognize our answers until you also have spiritual discernment. You need to seek these answers from God. The answers come from the spiritual Realm; not from the physical realm.

And yet here you are arguing with someone who claims spiritual discernment of his own. It's a classic example of how unreliable it is, and when people try to get you to address the issue you avoid it at all costs. I have done nothing wrong in asking questions. I understand it better then you think. You make many assumptions about me that are way off. The difference is not whether I have had spiritual experiences, but how we view and interpret them. I understand how unreliable they are and will go with better evidence if available. Again it's interesting that you cannot come up with the same truths with others who also claims spiritual discernment.

It is hard to have discussions with someone whose default position is "my spiritual experience is more valid and more correct than your spiritual experience".
“We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.” Keith McMullin - Counsellor in Presiding Bishopric
"One, two, three...let's go shopping!" Thomas S Monson - Prophet, Seer, Revelator

They also don't want to deal why others can have similar experiences yet different and conflicting interpretations. It maybe that they can't distinguish between the experience and the interpretation. Every experience has to be interpreted. They are not one and the same. Our interpretations are heavily influenced by our beliefs and wants.

As someone who a) has spiritual discernment b) centered on a practice of repeating mantras c) that disagrees with your "answers," I find your assumptions unfounded, your argumentation logically invalid, and your conclusions contradictory.

So, you don't think that Themis, or others, should seek their knowledge from God, rather than man?

I think you are avoiding what he is talking about. Not unexpected. by the way your post here is a good example of the assumptions I was talking about earlier.

Jesus gave His stamp aproval to the Old Testament by reading it in the temple and explaining it. He refers to and quotes the Old Testament through out his ministry. The Holy Spirit is in total agreement and union with the Holy Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I do believe that the Holy Spirit has provided me with a clearer understanding of God's Word as I study it.
