Actually, I'd categorize you as a bitter apostate.

You mean this Daniel?

And the second coming was expected to occur following the destruction of the temple. That second coming would deliver the Christians from the persecution that would effect that destruction. All the accounts explain that all the things he describes (from destruction through to his second coming) would come to pass during the lives of his disciples. There's no way to eisegete one's way out of the simple fact that Jesus prophesied that his second coming would occur during the lives of his disciples.

This is nothing. You didn't directly address the points that I made, that there were three questions and Jesus answered them. Of course the disciples of Jesus expected his return imminently. That though, has nothing to do with Jesus lying in Matthew 24, as you assert. You just simply said, no, you are wrong. Ok, that then, that is your opinion, which is of little value, because lots of scholars see this differently than your Jesus is a liar statement.

I've been called worse. Thanks.

Great. So, on what basis did you exchange the mythology of Mormonism for the Christ myth?

Trying to pawn the argument off on Carson doesn't suddenly make that go away.

Actually I had never heard of him until you made your arrogant "scholar" comment. You did not want to engage the argument based on your straw man that I'm some kind of "amateur". That was to placate you. I don't care if you read what he says. I made my point. You were wrong that no scholar had made that argument. So, are you going to answer whether you believe Jesus is a liar, like you asserted?

Oh, I see.

Because it's an utterly irrelevant dodge of what I pointed out, namely that Christ lists a series of events, culminating in his second coming, and then states unequivocally that "all these things" would happen during the lifetimes of those standing there next to him.

Of course, the gospels insist Jesus told them that's when it would be.

And lots of scholars prioritize their faith claims over legitimate exegesis.

Again, I directly answered your question. You know I did. You're just repeating the question because you think it makes some rhetorical point and you have nothing to contribute to an actual discussion of the texts.

You dodged the question. Big difference and it is obvious.

Of course, they don't. I've shown why. You have not.
