I've only learned about Mormonism in the last 10 years via the internet. I've never held a religious supernatural belief and I'm virtually positive I never will.

Well look, it's really quite simple. As a woman you have no material standing in the Church except in your role as child bearing cattle. You are one of your husbands eternal herd and you should obey your husband in all things as he obeys the Lord.
Now if you are one of those damn feminists well then you're one of the top enemies of the Church and you are to be shunned and gossiped about - in fact by the time you read this the ward will suspect you of lesbianism, drug taking and a penchant for hard liqueur.

I have no time to discuss..leaving on holidays to Cuba for 2 weeks tomorrow as of tomorrow.
In Canada, British Columbia there was a recent Supreme Court decision which found polygamy abusive to women and the judgement was it was illegal and could not be protected as a religious right under the Charter of Rights and Freedom. The judge listened to extensive evidence and arguments. I would think the judge is better than "mildly educated" and likely much better educated than yourself.

Off topic, but wow! What a great idea for a vacation! Please fill us in on the details when you get back. If I smoked cigars, I would ask you to bring me some back.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I think many Lost Boys and Child Brides would disagree with you on this point, if they were permitted to disagree.

I applaud you on this analogy. When both polygamy and the free market are unregulated, the driving force of lust or avarice within each will inevitably produce disastrous results. Polygamists will seek ever younger and more nubile brides while the market-side Wheelers 'n Dealers will seek ever greater profits.

Thanks for this, Marg. I'm glad the case was heard in BC. (In Alberta, they might have ruled in favor of the polygamists.) Here's hoping it goes to their federal Supreme Court. I've little doubt that they would follow suit.
For you, or for anyone who says, "If I were Joseph . . . " Well, that's why you weren't Joseph, and why you weren't chosen to translate the Book of Mormon, have that incredible vision of the Father and the Son, set the restoration in place, and be the prophet of the Last Dispensation. You simply wouldn't have been faithful and obedient enough.

But polygamy does exist today in the Moormon church. Any man can be sealed to multiple wives for his enjoyment in the next life. He just has to wait out his currently living wife and marry again. In other words, long life as a male equals many wives.
