You like sentimental music don't you.
Is that what the spirit feels like to you?

For me, sentimental or "sad story" music often just makes me feel manipulated.
In particular, "cowboy sentimentality" does not resonant with me.

I prefer the feeling of the numinous/mysterium tremendum. Either that or something psychedelic or harmonically complex or adventurous (like jazz/fusion).

Yeah, that is the direction I go for uplifting music.

Nice call.
I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil...

Well I have been seeking out new kinds of music that are more compatable to the Spirit of the Lord. Irreverent music tends not to be compatable, since the Spirit is one of Peace and Jopy. Rock tends to bend towards the negative and irreverent. Country music is both easy to enjoy and has alot of songs that focus on Jesus Christ and his teachings. I do find it hard to listen to a country radio station since alot of the songs are very poorly crafted, but there are quite a few gems that pop up.

When I did listen to Rock, TOOl was a favorite of mine. The band themselves enjoy studying alchemy and sacred geometry. Both of these fields of study have roots in the temple teachings, although they have been somewhat corrupted. As a result, their album LATERALUS contained some very interesting lyrics. Two songs in particular stand out.

I don't think that song has an official video. This guy seems to have used alot of Alex Greys artwork. Grey did all of the artwork for the tour, and the band finds alot of inspiration from his work as well.

Some of the song lyrics:
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

This is an official video for the song. Its very heavy on alchemical symbolism and what not.

Lyrics:
We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now. hold on, stay inside...
This holy reality, this holy experience. choosing to be here in...

This body. this body holding me. be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion.

Alive

This holy reality, in this holy experience. choosing to be here in...

This body. this body holding me. be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion...
Of what it means to be alive

Swirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this
Chance to be alive and breathing
Chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. remember. we are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

That video was even in letterbox! Nice!

For those of you who are hearing her music for the first time, I would recommend Loreena McKennitt's album "The mask and ther mirror" . Its really excellent, and great as background music while your reading or taking a bubble bath.

I can't believe I didn't post this song earlier. The video is homemade by someone since there is no official video. Best just to turn screen off and listen.

I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu----jah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne, she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu----jah

Maybe I have been here before, I know this room; I have walked this floor, I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch, love is not a victory march, it's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu----jah

There was a time you let me know whats really going on below, but now you never show it to me, do you? (and)
Remember when I moved in you; the holy dark was moving too, and every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu----jah

Maybe there's a God above, and all I ever learned from love was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And its not a cry you can hear at night, its not somebody who's seen the light, its a cold and its a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu--jah

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sisters let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O sisters let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O brothers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
Come on brothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O fathers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O fathers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O mothers let's go down,
Let's go down, don't you want to go down,
Come on mothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sinners let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O sinners let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

I like soundtrack spiritual.
