In certain parts of Western Europe, couples are required to marry in public and by a civil servant (not a private religious leader), then they can have their temple ceremony. And yes, this is a concern for many Latter-day Saints--that if gays marry, what's to stop the church from being forced to marry gays in their temples? I realize it's an uneducated and insane thing to wrap your mind around, but this is what is believed by some who are voting for things like Prop 8!
I understand the concern but I don't think there is much to worry about. Even if enforcement were to happen...the church would probably close the temple anyway.

I think the argument "Because God said so" is the only real legitimate argument against homosexual marriage.
I don't mind if homosexuals get married. What I "DO" mind is that if I don't allow a gay man to rent my room, and walk around naked in my apartment while I'm at home, I can be fined $10,000 and spend up to one year in jail. That's the LAW as it stands today. I can't refuse him because he is "gay".

I think you're mistaken. What state do you live in? I think you have control over your own house, and if you're concerned about the values of those living within your house (as opposed to a renting out private rental property), you should rethink renting a share of common space out to strangers. I sure as heck wouldn't sublet a room in my home.
