Re: No three degrees of Glory in 1 Cor 15
The Glories Paul is talking about is are Mortal Body "with no glory" versus our immortal body" full of Glory' easy to see in context
Justice = Getting what you deserve
Mercy = Not getting what you deserve
Grace = Getting what you can never deserve
Mercy = Not getting what you deserve
Grace = Getting what you can never deserve

Which glory is which? I see degrees of glory? What is Paul referring to here?

Re: No three degrees of Glory in 1 Cor 15
This doctrine of three degrees of glory is certainly not in harmony with the teachings of the Book of Mormon. In 1 Nephi 15:35 we read that there is only a heaven and a hell: "And there is a place prepared, yea, even that awful hell of which I have spoken, and the devil is the foundation of it; wherefore the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out because of that justice of which I have spoken."
In Alma 5:24, 25, and 39, we read that those who are cast out of the kingdom of heaven are of the kingdom of the devil:
Behold, my brethren, do ye suppose that such an one can have a place to sit down in the kingdom of God... I say unto you, Nay; except ye make our Creator a liar from the beginning,... ye cannot suppose that such can have place in the kingdom of heaven; but they shall be cast out for they are the children of the kingdom of the devil (vv. 24-25). And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd, of what fold are ye? Behold, I say unto you, that the devil is your shepherd, and ye are of his fold; and now, who can deny this? Behold, I say unto you, whosoever denieth this is a liar and a child of the devil (v. 39).
Apostle Orson Pratt had to admit that the Bible and Book of Mormon did not lend much support to the doctrine of three degrees of glory: "Then again, what could we learn from either the Bible or Book of Mormon in regard to three glories—the celestial, the terrestrial and the telestial glories? What did we know concerning those that should inhabit these various worlds of glory? Nothing at all" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 20, p. 70).

Nobody cares Mittens. If you accept the Book of Mormon, you are a Mormon of some flavor and most of them believe in multiple degrees of glory in the next life from related teachings. You aren't getting anywhere with this argument.

The Book of Mormon in its self is innocuous since it was written by a man who knew the doctrines of the Christian Creeds, it disagrees more with Mormon Creeds "Articles of Faith" etc. Youl'll find ONE GOD in three persons there rather than the pletheria of gods the Mormons teach.
Justice = Getting what you deserve
Mercy = Not getting what you deserve
Grace = Getting what you can never deserve

I don't think Mormons are going to be God or gods either. You are just taking suppositions from Mormon leaders who haven't thought through things very carefully and assumed all Mormons believe they'll be God or gods. That isn't true. I believe we'll be co-inheritors with Christ in heaven. That won't make us God or Jesus, but saved and exalted beings with glory as described by Paul. All Christians should believe in that salvation through Christ as well.

Re: No three degrees of Glory in 1 Cor 15
Tobin, a reasonable post on its surface but you will admit that there are words that Mormons and Christians use that have very different meanings to each. You use the term salvation in connection with Christ but Mormons believe that what Jesus actually provided was resurrection, only a gateway, if you will, to the exaltation that they have to earn through their adherence to all the rules and regulations of Mormonism. Christians believe that the salvation provided by Jesus is full and total, encompassing eternal life with the Father with all that he has to offer...not an ounce of earning or deserving anywhere only his amazing grace. Glad, though, that you ditch the teaching of godhood for Mormons be it God or gods.
