First believable thing you've typed...
“We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.” Keith McMullin - Counsellor in Presiding Bishopric
"One, two, three...let's go shopping!" Thomas S Monson - Prophet, Seer, Revelator

The length the anti-mormon mind will go to both lie and degrade someone falsely and unrighteously.

And there you have the logic of the Mormon...
Doubt until proven is a Mental disorder, but Faith when based on fairytales and mythology is REAL.
PrickKicker: I used to be a Narrow minded, short sighted, Lying, Racist, Homophobic, Pious, Moron. But they were all behavioral traits that I had learnt through Mormonism.

The idea of stone boxes and metal plates were already a part of Joseph's world in the 1820's. This means apologists would be incorrect to say Joseph couldn't have already known about these ideas. especially since treasures were an important part of his early life. This is true for most kids.
But I do remember there are PLENTY of other things that came known after Joseph for sure. As to some examples, the fact that you aren't even aware of these things even yourself tells me maybe you aren't as "learned" as you think concerning the Church.
The only example you have brought forth(metal plates and stone boxes) has been shown to be incorrect. I have read plenty of apologetic works, and I find this argument of Joseph could not have known to fail all the time. Perhaps you have another specific example. Just one for now. That can't be to hard since you say you can remember plenty of other things.

'tis far better to have the logic of a Mormon than to be in your predicament where logic doth not dwell at all.
(and to be honest, any fundamental exploration will reveal that "doubt" is not a natural position - to doubt without just cause is irrational and unreasonable, and even quite illogical - though i am sure your "just cause" is as valid as any.....indeed)

If someone said they saw a gremlin in their basement, would you be doubtful(Uncertain), and if yes why? Assume this person has never been known to lie or even joke around.
ldsfaqs and subgenius, Can one, or preferably both of you sum up what it means for something to be "necessary but not sufficient"?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
