That has been said for years. They're still here.

Still here, but increasingly irrelevant. They will entrench in the morridor, grow for a while in SA and Africa, shrink in Europe, Asia, and NA as society increasingly realizes all the church is: a homophobic, misogynistic, racist group that views religion as a license to commit evil in the name of god.

Even for those more rational Lemmings, their sheer weight on the cliff may cause the cliff to crumble thus taking them all.Natural or adopted children living in a same-sex household will only be allowed to be baptized once they are 18, disavow the practice of same-sex cohabitation or marriage, and stop living within the household, according to the policy. Such baptism would still require the approval of the church's governing First Presidency.

This is eerily reminiscent of the church ban on blacks holding the priesthood until 1978. It is blatant discrimination, this time against the children of gay parents.
Bigotry is still bigotry, whether based on race, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. Mormon church hierarchy is still engaging in bigoted practices excluding large segments of the population by virtue now of whether someone's parents are straight or homosexual.
I envision more leaving the church because of this new bizarre stance, than staying. Otherwise, they're endorsing outright bigotry themselves against CHILDREN. And for the child to HAVE TO DISAVOW their parents in order to JOIN, is yet another MARK OF A CULT, A PSEUDO RELIGION.

In other words I hate everything you say, do, believe. I will work feverishly against you, insult you in public, and private. Abuse your good name. Can I come live with you?

Agreed. The more it digs its heels in its bigoted past, the more marginalized it's becoming.
The new face of bigotry in Mormonism is homophobia.
Calling evil good flies in the face of everything holy. Whatever the church position on homosexuality is one thing.
But targeting innocent children takes it to a new low.
"It's in the handbook," will be the new mantra. "Read my lips."
"Children of gay parents aren't our kind."

From comments section of the Saint George news, on the LGBT issue: "Suffer the Little Children to Come unto me; and forbid them not. For such is the Kingdom of Heaven. What Mormons reject; Jesus accepts."
Amen.
Amen.

Children in the US are not free agents. They can't sign a contract, or do many things a adult can legally do. If you have to get permission from your parents to join any group. You are obviously not qualified to do it.

Re: Mormons are here to stay
I will take this as a yes to my question on the other thread. If minor children have to ask their non Mormon parents for permission to be baptized, then in your view they are unqualified to be baptized.

Something Positive
At least we are not requiring these children to undergo an exorcism.

But sadly, many children are forced to undergo conversion therapy.
