Maybe it is time you get over the idea that evolution is flawless and that those who accept such are "scientific" and those who have other revelations of origins do no research.Quasimodo wrote:LittleNipper wrote: There are thousands of Christian scientist, research workers, and historians would disagree. How one can actually date the exact date of petroglyphs is questionable; however, I see no reason that some things didn't survive the Flood. But there is no rational reason to imagine that an artifact found somewhere, has anything to do with the people now living in that area. America is a perfect example. What the American natives accomplished has very little to do with Italian immigrants presently living in Brooklyn.
I doubt thousands. The decedents of the people who made the petroglyphs are still living in the South West. Their pottery designs still carry some of the motifs expressed in those early petroglyphs. You are just grasping at straws.
Maybe it's time you did some rethinking. As much as you cherish your beliefs, they are indefensible. Have some milk and cookies and do a little reading.

LittleNipper wrote:Are you suggesting that Aboriginies could not be connected to whites by only 4500 years...
I'm not suggesting that they couldn't be. I'm suggesting that the evidence shows that they almost certainly were not.
Please, I thought all that racial superiority bias ended years ago.
Oh the irony. I say that the Aborigines migrated to Australia in the 40,000 - 50,000 year ago timeframe and I'm being racist, but you assume that Aborigines must have descended from whites?
Why from whites? What evidence have you got that Aborigines descended from whites?
Oh, I know. It's because only white people got off the Ark after the flood. So everyone on Earth has to come from whites in one way or another. Unless you believe that equally absurd and offensive doctrine of the Mormons that Noah's son was married to "Egyptus", a black woman, and thus preserved "the curse" through the Flood.
Or else maybe you just mean that white is the standard, original, default race, and all other races are derivations or, dare I say it, subclasses from that.
Seriously dude, that's some cojones you have trying to play the race card on me in this conversation.
LittleNipper the Absurd further wrote:The Aboriginies have oral histories. The Egyptians thought that the Pharoah was a God through linage and that the Egyptians never lost a battle... Of course the Egyptians had the nasty habit of desecrating all the statues and inscriptions of predecessors that suggested otherwise...
Utterly and totally irrelevant to the discussion at hand.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Re: Why I don't believe the story of the Great Flood...
Alright since I stopped laughing let's break down the "trained animal" conundrum. Add four more elephants (who need 7-8% of the total area of the Ark for their food alone) and pair up another 10(?) apes/monkeys. So we have 22 workers to feed and water 16000 animals.
16000 / 22 = 727 animals per laborer
727 / 1440 minutes = 2 minutes to feed and water the animals (ignoring that many animals require food and water several times a day). I think I got it. The only question is:
So how long until the animal laborers form a union for better work conditions?

No, no, how long before all the ammonia stench kills them off?
Or, how long before the animals steal the wine and get drunk off their asses?

The ammonia is going to be collected by the trained monkeys via a single HEPA air filter.
Or, how long before the animals steal the wine and get drunk off their asses?
Just me dear...the monkeys are trained and thus won't steal the wine and get drunk. Plus they won't have time with the constant feeding and watering of their 727 new pets.

Alas, Mr Spock, not everything in life is logical, nor does it have to be in order to understand it.
Funny people here are giving you a fraction of the mountains of evidence against, yet I don't see any you say support a global flood. Feel free to even bring up one.
again, why would you even want to change their beliefs....does someone's belief in the flood somehow infringe upon your personal liberty? your ability to work? to find love? to be happy?
Some incorrect beliefs can do more harm then others. This one may not do as much as others, but it can still have some negative impacts on people. I still think it is better if one has a more correct understanding.
i like your last line here - "but I let people believe what ever they want" - you will understand if i doubt your sincerity on that one.
seems like you are still a missionary...just not one for the church.
You can doubt all you want, but I don't go out knocking on doors anymore. Lets be honest, and not so hypocritical, you are doing the same thing here as anyone else in expressing what you believe is correct.

Ummm...its a myth. I "understand" the flood story about as well as I understand how warp drives work. This seems very appropriate for someone, like yourself, who bases his life on the ancient fables of bunch of middle eastern sheep herders: http://www.myspace.com/video/bey-creative-images/william-shatner-get-a-life/46764912

LOL - Yes, my suggestion that god should have used his magic powers in a different way than you claim that he used his magic powers is somehow invalidated because I mixed up a part of the flood myth - a story that, even as a child, I realized was nothing more than folklore. You trekkers crack me up...
