Hi LittleNipper,

I have a question for you from the Bible. Why weren't the men of Judah with the Lord with them able to defeat the inhabitants with chariots of iron?

Here is Judges Chapter one verses 18 through 20:

Judges 1:18-20 (NKJV)

18 Also Judah took Gaza with its territory, Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory. 19 So the Lord was with Judah. And they drove out the mountaineers, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the lowland, because they had chariots of iron. 20 And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said. Then he expelled from there the three sons of Anak.

There are several biblical explanations but one would be found in Judges chapter 2:1-3

Then the Angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you. And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’ ”

I've scanned twice that underlined text. There is nothing about chariots of iron.

In other words, the author of Judges concedes the existence of other gods.
Surprise, surprise, there is no divine mandate for the Church to discuss and portray its history accurately.

Of course fallen man worships other gods. There is the god of whoremongering --- Lasciviousness. There is the god of food --- Gluttony. There is the god of materialism ---- Greed. The god of drink ---- Debauchery The god of conceit --- Vanity. Each goes by a myriad of names depending on the circles in which they are worshipped. None of these among others are eternal; however, they are trusted by many much like yourself who do not have faith in the ONE TRUE GOD.

There, fixed it for you.

Wrong--these are not gods; these are sins. The passage specifically says gods. You're not allowed to change what the Bible says just because you don't like it.

See above.

Perhaps I expect too much but English is not your 1st language (and likely you are far better in English than I could ever be in your native tongue). Yet the real issue has nothing to do with armored vehicles. The problem is that Israel was not trusting in the Lord and were becoming corrupted by the surrounding customs. And because Israel was becoming corrupted with pagan attitudes and beliefs that God said,"Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’" God certainly is more powerful than an entire nation ----- I mean He brought the Hebrews out of Egypt and defeated Pharaoh. "Iron" was certainly never the issue ---faith and trust is.
