Surprise, surprise, there is no divine mandate for the Church to discuss and portray its history accurately.

Traditionally, the ceremony of Eka Dasa Rudra occurs every 100 years. According to this demonic belief there must be a balance in the world between the forces of good and evil, and when the balance favours the latter the ceremony must be performed.

When the ceremony of Eka Dasa Rudra occurs - its preparation and the entire ceremony - it is with the involvement of the entire population of Bali. Basically, the eleven demons (of which Rudra is the most powerful) must be transformed in order that they become less threatening to the world balance. This is why then the ceremonies duration is 11 weeks with the number of ceremonies totalling thirty in all.

Psalm 37:1-40
Don't get upset because of those who are evil or be envious of those who live in evil; for like grass they will quickly dry up and die.

Trust in the Lord and always try to do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safety.

Be delighted with the Lord, and he will give you what you wish.

Dedicate yourself to the Lord; trust in him and he will do thus:

He will cause your righteous reward to shine like the morning, your acquittal like the midday sun.

Be calm before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; never be overly upset when people succeed to carry out their wicked schemes.

Refrain from getting angry and turn from rage; as such only leads to evil.

Those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

After a short time the wicked will gone forever; though you look around, they will not be found.

The meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

The wicked plot against the righteous and are so angered by them.

The Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows they've had it.

The wicked ready their weapons to slay the poor and needy, and stop those whose ways are upright.

But these weapons will rather kill those wicked, and then the weapons will be destroyed.

Much better to not have much righteously than to have the wealth of many wicked people;

The strength of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord holds up the justified.

The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.

In times of trouble they are not ashamed; in days of famine they will enjoy enough.

But the wicked will perish: Though the Lord’s enemies are numerous as wild flowers, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.

The wicked take and do not give, but the righteous give generously; those the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those He's against will be destroyed.

The Lord protects the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not tumble, for the Lord holds him with his hand.

I was once young and have become elderly, yet I have never seen the righteous forgotten or their children needy.

They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.

Turn from evil and do good; then you will live in the land forever.

For the Lord loves the just and will not forget his faithful ones.

Those living for sin will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.

The righteous will inherit the land and live in it forever.

The mouths of the righteous speak wisdom, and what is just.

God's law is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.

The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on ruining them;

but the Lord will not leave them under the thumb of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

Hope in the Lord and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

I have seen a destructive and ruthless man flourishing like a luscious native tree, but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he was gone.

Consider the blameless, observe the upright; for such will find peace.

But all living in sin will be destroyed; sin has no future.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

The Lord helps and delivers them; from the wicked and preserves them, because they take refuge in him

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 By David. Do not fret because of evil doers, Be not envious against doers of iniquity,

2 For as grass speedily they are cut off, And as the greenness of the tender grass do fade.

3 Trust in Jehovah, and do good, Dwell [in] the land, and enjoy faithfulness,

4 And delight thyself on Jehovah, And He giveth to thee the petitions of thy heart.

5 Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh,

6 And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day.

7 Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices.

8 Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil.

9 For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land.

10 And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not.

11 And the humble do possess the land, And they have delighted themselves In the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth.

13 The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh.

14 A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.

15 Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered.

16 Better [is] the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous.

18 Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is -- to the age.

19 They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied.

20 But the wicked perish, and the enemies of Jehovah, As the preciousness of lambs, Have been consumed, In smoke they have been consumed.

21 The wicked is borrowing and repayeth not, And the righteous is gracious and giving.

22 For His blessed ones do possess the land, And His reviled ones are cut off.

23 From Jehovah [are] the steps of a man, They have been prepared, And his way he desireth.

24 When he falleth, he is not cast down, For Jehovah is sustaining his hand.

25 Young I have been, I have also become old, And I have not seen the righteous forsaken, And his seed seeking bread.

26 All the day he is gracious and lending, And his seed [is] for a blessing.

27 Turn aside from evil, and do good, and dwell to the age.

28 For Jehovah is loving judgment, And He doth not forsake His saintly ones, To the age they have been kept, And the seed of the wicked is cut off.

29 The righteous possess the land, And they dwell for ever on it.

30 The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And his tongue speaketh judgment.

31 The law of his God [is] his heart, His steps do not slide.

32 The wicked is watching for the righteous, And is seeking to put him to death.

33 Jehovah doth not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him in his being judged.

34 Look unto Jehovah, and keep His way, And He doth exalt thee to possess the land, In the wicked being cut off -- thou seest!

35 I have seen the wicked terrible, And spreading as a green native plant,

36 And he passeth away, and lo, he is not, And I seek him, and he is not found!

37 Observe the perfect, and see the upright, For the latter end of each [is] peace.

38 And transgressors were destroyed together, The latter end of the wicked was cut off.

39 And the salvation of the righteous [is] from Jehovah, Their strong place in a time of adversity.

40 And Jehovah doth help them and deliver them, He delivereth them from the wicked, And saveth them, Because they trusted in Him!

Psalm 38:1-22 A Song of David, to bring about remembrance.

O LORD don't lecture me in anger, nor punish me when you're upset .

For I've dealt with your barbs and spankings before.

There is no strength in my flesh, nor do I get any rest because of my sin.

I'm in over my head in sin that are far too hard for me to bear.

My wounds stink and fester because of my mistakes.

I am upset; I go around looking down; I sob all day long.

For my lower back hurts, and there is no power in my flesh.

I am weak and broken; I'm constantly yelling because my soul is upset.

Lord, you know my desires, and my pain is not hid from you.

My heart flutters, my strength fails me; as for the sparkle of my eyes, it also is gone.

My relatives, friends and acquaintances stand aloof from my trouble.

Those that look to get me set out traps, and those that seek my hurt speak of adversity and make up lies all day long.

But I paid no attention (as one who cannot see), and I didn't speak up expressing disapproval (as one without a tongue).

Now, for you Lord I will wait for your response.

I said, "Let them not rally and build themselves up at my expense."

I am ready to quit, and my trouble is all I think about.

Therefore I will speak concerning my sin and apologize for it.

My enemies are alive, and well, and the list of those that despise me without cause grows; dealing me evil for good, all because I chase after goodness.

Don't abandon me LORD, nor go far away.

Hurry and help me, Lord my Savior.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Psalm of David, `To cause to remember.' Jehovah, in Thy wrath reprove me not, Nor in Thy fury chastise me.

2 For Thine arrows have come down on me, And Thou lettest down upon me Thy hand.

3 Soundness is not in my flesh, Because of Thine indignation, Peace is not in my bones because of my sin.

4 For mine iniquities have passed over my head, As a heavy burden -- too heavy for me.

5 Stunk -- become corrupt have my wounds, Because of my folly.

6 I have been bent down, I have been bowed down -- unto excess, All the day I have gone mourning.

7 For my flanks have been full of drought, And soundness is not in my flesh.

8 I have been feeble and smitten -- unto excess, I have roared from disquietude of heart.

9 Lord, before Thee [is] all my desire, And my sighing from Thee hath not been hid.

10 My heart [is] panting, my power hath forsaken me, And the light of mine eyes, Even they are not with me.

11 My lovers and my friends over-against my plague stand. And my neighbours afar off have stood.

12 And those seeking my soul lay a snare, And those seeking my evil Have spoken mischievous things, And they do deceits meditate all the day.

13 And I, as deaf, hear not. And as a dumb one who openeth not his mouth.

14 Yea, I am as a man who heareth not, And in his mouth are no reproofs.

15 Because for Thee, O Jehovah, I have waited, Thou dost answer, O Lord my God.

16 When I said, `Lest they rejoice over me, In the slipping of my foot against me they magnified themselves.

17 For I am ready to halt, And my pain [is] before me continually.

18 For mine iniquity I declare, I am sorry for my sin.

19 And mine enemies [are] lively, They have been strong, and those hating me without cause, Have been multiplied.

20 And those paying evil for good accuse me, Because of my pursuing good.

21 Do not forsake me, O Jehovah, My God, be not far from me,

22 Haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!

Psalm 39:1-13 (YLT)For the Music Director. To Jeduthun (Jeduthun. Means praising. a Levite of the family of Merari, and one of the three masters of music appointed by David) A song of David.

I say that I'll consider what I do so that I do not sin in my speech; I will keep a muzzle on my mouth while the wicked are present.

I was speechless in silence; I was silent to no avail ---- my anguish being stirred up.

My desire smoldered within me; while I was pondering, the fire flared, then I spoke aloud: “Lord, let me see my life's end, and know how long I have, that I may realize how little time there is left.

Actually, You have made my days short, and my age is meaningless compared to You; every man's life at best is as a mere gasp.” (Imagine that)

Every man walks in snapshots; surely he expires all too soon; he gathers together trinkets, and does not know who will eventually acquire them.

Lord, why must I wait? My hope is in You.

Deliver me from all my sins; do not make me disappointing even to fools.

I was quiet, I kept my mouth shut --- by Your power.

Don't hit me again. I'm diminished by the hostility of Your hand.

With reprimands You correct a man for sin, You nibble away at his importance; every man is vapor. (Imagine that)

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and listen to my cry; don't ignore my tears, for I'm but a temporary resident as all my ancestors were.

Don't look with displeasure at me, that I can smile, before I'm dead and gone.

Young's Literal Translation

1 To the Overseer, to Jeduthun. -- A Psalm of David. I have said, `I observe my ways, Against sinning with my tongue, I keep for my mouth a curb, while the wicked [is] before me.'

2 I was dumb [with] silence, I kept silent from good, and my pain is excited.

3 Hot [is] my heart within me, In my meditating doth the fire burn, I have spoken with my tongue.

4 `Cause me to know, O Jehovah, mine end, And the measure of my days -- what it [is],' I know how frail I [am].

5 Lo, handbreadths Thou hast made my days, And mine age [is] as nothing before Thee, Only, all vanity [is] every man set up. Selah.

6 Only, in an image doth each walk habitually, Only, [in] vain, they are disquieted, He heapeth up and knoweth not who gathereth them.

7 And, now, what have I expected? O Lord, my hope -- it [is] of Thee.

8 From all my transgressions deliver me, A reproach of the fool make me not.

9 I have been dumb, I open not my mouth, Because Thou -- Thou hast done [it].

10 Turn aside from off me Thy stroke, From the striving of Thy hand I have been consumed.

11 With reproofs against iniquity, Thou hast corrected man, And dost waste as a moth his desirableness, Only, vanity [is] every man. Selah.

12 Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, And [to] my cry give ear, Unto my tear be not silent, For a sojourner I [am] with Thee, A settler like all my fathers.

13 Look from me, and I brighten up before I go and am not!

Psalm 40:1-17 For the Music Director. A song of David.

I waited in patience for the Lord. He came closer and heard me crying.

He pulled me up out of the pit of desolation, out of the swamp. He placed my feet on a rock and made my feet steady.

He put a song of celebration in my mouth, a song praising God. Many people will observe and worship him. They will find shelter in the Lord.

Happy is the person who finds shelter in the Lord, who doesn’t turn to those who are proud or to those who go astray following a lie.

Lord my God, you have done many great acts. You have many plans for us. If I presented them all, there would be too many to number.

You do not want sacrifices and offerings. You do not ask for burnt offerings and purification offerings.

Then I said, “Look, I have come. It is written about me in the scroll.

My God, I want to do what you want. Your instructions are in my heart.”

I will tell the good news in the great meeting of your people. Lord, you know my lips are not restrained.

I do not hide your goodness in my heart; I speak about your loyalty and salvation. I do not hide your loyalty and truth from the people in the great meeting assembly.

Lord, do not restrain your compassion from me; let your love and faithfulness always protect me.

Troubles surround me; there are too many to count. My sins have caught up with me --- I cannot see no means to escape. I have more sins than hairs on my head, and I have lost my courage.

Please, Lord, save me. Rush to help me Lord.

People are seeking to kill me. Shame and disgrace them. People wish to harm me. Let them back away in disgrace.

People making fun of me say, “Look see!” Let them be devastated by their own shame.

But let those who  seek you be happy and glad. They love you for Your salvation. May they always say, “Praise God”

Lord, because I am poor and needy, please consider me. You are my helper and Savior. My God, do not hesitate.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 To the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. I have diligently expected Jehovah, And He inclineth to me, and heareth my cry,

2 And He doth cause me to come up From a pit of desolation -- from mire of mud, And He raiseth up on a rock my feet, He is establishing my steps.

3 And He putteth in my mouth a new song, `Praise to our God.' Many do see and fear, and trust in Jehovah.

4 O the happiness of the man Who hath made Jehovah his trust, And hath not turned unto the proud, And those turning aside to lies.

5 Much hast Thou done, Jehovah my God; Thy wonders and Thy thoughts toward us, There is none to arrange unto Thee, I declare and speak: They have been more than to be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and present Thou hast not desired, Ears Thou hast prepared for me, Burnt and sin-offering Thou hast not asked.

7 Then said I, `Lo, I have come,' In the roll of the book it is written of me,

8 To do Thy pleasure, my God, I have delighted, And Thy law [is] within my heart.

9 I have proclaimed tidings of righteousness In the great assembly, lo, my lips I restrain not, O Jehovah, Thou hast known.

10 Thy righteousness I have not concealed In the midst of my heart, Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation I have told, I have not hidden Thy kindness and Thy truth, To the great assembly.

11 Thou, O Jehovah, restrainest not Thy mercies from me, Thy kindness and Thy truth do continually keep me.

12 For compassed me have evils innumerable, Overtaken me have mine iniquities, And I have not been able to see; They have been more than the hairs of my head, And my heart hath forsaken me.

13 Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me, O Jehovah, for my help make haste.

14 They are ashamed and confounded together, Who are seeking my soul to destroy it, They are turned backward, And are ashamed, who are desiring my evil.

15 They are desolate because of their shame, Who are saying to me, `Aha, aha.'

16 All seeking Thee rejoice and are glad in Thee, Those loving Thy salvation say continually, `Jehovah is magnified.'

17 And I [am] poor and needy, The Lord doth devise for me. My help and my deliverer [art] Thou, O my God, tarry Thou not.

Psalm 41:1-13 Psalm 41:1-13 For the Music Director. A song of David.

Blessed are those who show concern for the needy; the Lord delivers them in times of trial.

The Lord protects and preserves them – they are numbered among the blessed of a location – He does not turn such over to their enemies.

The Lord encourages them when they are sick and restores them to wellness.

I said, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you.’

My enemies speak of me spitefully,‘When will he die and his name perish?’

When one of them comes to visit, he flatters ------all the while his heart gathers dirt that he then spreads about.

All my enemies secretly conspire against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying, ‘A vile disease afflicts him; he will never get up from the place where he lies.’

Even a dear friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my food, has conspired against me.

But may you have mercy on me, Lord; raise me up, that I may repay them.

I know that you are happy with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

Because of my incorruptibility you uphold me and set me in your presence for ever.

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from eternity past to forever. So be it.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 To the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. O the happiness of him Who is acting wisely unto the poor, In a day of evil doth Jehovah deliver him.

2 Jehovah doth preserve him and revive him, He is happy in the land, And Thou givest him not into the will of his enemies.

3 Jehovah supporteth on a couch of sickness, All his bed Thou hast turned in his weakness.

4 I -- I said, `O Jehovah, favour me, Heal my soul, for I did sin against Thee,'

5 Mine enemies say evil of me: When he dieth -- his name hath perished!

6 And if he came to see -- vanity he speaketh, His heart gathereth iniquity to itself, He goeth out -- at the street he speaketh.

7 All hating me whisper together against me, Against me they devise evil to me:

8 A thing of Belial is poured out on him, And because he lay down he riseth not again.

9 Even mine ally, in whom I trusted, One eating my bread, made great the heel against me,

10 And Thou, Jehovah, favour me, And cause me to rise, And I give recompence to them.

11 By this I have known, That Thou hast delighted in me, Because my enemy shouteth not over me.

12 As to me, in mine integrity, Thou hast taken hold upon me, And causest me to stand before Thee to the age.

13 Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age -- and unto the age. Amen and Amen.

Psalm 42:1-11
For the Music Director. Instruction of Sons of Korah.

As the deer desires fresh water, so my soul desires God.

My soul wants the living God. When can I go to meet with God?

My tears feed me always ---- while people say to me daily,“Where is your God?”

Such things I remember pray from my soul: how I went to the house of God with shouts of joy and praise among the happy crowd.

Why is my soul troubled? Why am I upset inside? Put your hope in God, for I still praise my Savior and my God.

My soul is upset inside; therefore I will remember you across the country.

From the ocean to the heavens, in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have overwhelmed me.

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song serenades me— a prayer to the God regarding my life.

I say to God my Rock, “Why forget me? Why must I mourn, under the enemies' thumb?”

My body faces growing pain as my enemies laugh at me, saying daily, “Where is your God?”

Why is my spirit downcast and disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I still praise him, my Savior and my God.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 To the Overseer. -- An Instruction. By sons of Korah. As a hart doth pant for streams of water, So my soul panteth toward Thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsted for God, for the living God, When do I enter and see the face of God?

3 My tear hath been to me bread day and night, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?'

4 These I remember, and pour out my soul in me, For I pass over into the booth, I go softly with them unto the house of God, With the voice of singing and confession, The multitude keeping feast!

5 What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? Yea, art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him: The salvation of my countenance -- My God!

6 In me doth my soul bow itself, Therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan, And of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.

7 Deep unto deep is calling At the noise of Thy water-spouts, All Thy breakers and Thy billows passed over me.

8 By day Jehovah commandeth His kindness, And by night a song [is] with me, A prayer to the God of my life.

9 I say to God my rock, `Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning in the oppression of an enemy?

10 With a sword in my bones Have mine adversaries reproached me, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?'

11 What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!

Psalm 43:1-5
Defend me, God. Argue my case against those people who don’t have you.. Protect me from such evil liars.

God, you are my sanctuary. Why have you turned away? Why must I suffer such sadness heaped on me by my enemies?

Send your light and truth to lead me, to your holy mountain, to your home.

I want to go to God’s altar, who makes me exceedingly happy. God, I wish to play my harp in praise!

Why am I so sad and so upset? I tell myself, “Wait for God’s help! You will again have a chance to praise him, the one who will save.”

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Judge me, O God, And plead my cause against a nation not pious, From a man of deceit and perverseness Thou dost deliver me,

2 For thou [art] the God of my strength. Why hast Thou cast me off? Why mourning do I go up and down, In the oppression of an enemy?

3 Send forth Thy light and Thy truth, They -- they lead me, they bring me in, Unto Thy holy hill, and unto Thy tabernacles.

4 And I go in unto the altar of God, Unto God, the joy of my rejoicing. And I thank Thee with a harp, O God, my God.

5 What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!

Psalm 44:1-26 For the choir director: A song of the descendants of Korah.

O God, we have indeed head what our ancestors have told us of all you did in their day long ago:

You drove pagan nations by your power handing the land over to our ancestors. You smashed their enemies setting our ancestors free.

They did not conquer the land with weapon, nor did their own strong arm that gave them victory. It was your right hand and strong arm and the shine from your face that helped them, for you loved them.

You are my King and God. You directed victories for Israel.

Only by you do we push back our enemies; only in your name can we trample our foes.

I do not trust in my aim, nor count on my weapons to save me.

You give us the victory over our enemies; you disgrace those who hate us.

O God, we glorify you daily and continually praise your name.(Ponder that)

But now you throw us aside in dishonor. You no longer lead our armies in battle.

You cause our retreat from our enemies and allow those who hate us to plunder our land.

You have butchered us like sheep and spread us among nations.

You sold your precious people for nothing.

You let our neighbors ridicule us. We are an object of scorn and derision to those around us.

You have made us the butt of jokes; they wag their heads at us scornfully.

We can’t escape the constant humiliation; shame appears in our expression.

All we hear are the catcalls of our mockers. All we see are our revenging enemies.

All this happened even though we have not forgotten you. We have not violated your covenant.

Our hearts have not left you. We have not strayed from your path.

You have crushed us among monsters. You have covered us with darkness and death.

If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread our hands in prayer to foreign gods,

God would know it --- seeing the secrets of every heart.

But for you we would be murdered daily; we are being slaughtered like lambs.

Rise and shine, O Lord! Don't sleep! Get up! Do not reject us forever.

Don't look away. Don't ignore our suffering and oppression?

We fall in the dust, lying face down in the dirt.

Come! Help us! Redeem us because of your unfailing love.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 To the Overseer. -- By sons of Korah. An Instruction. O God, with our ears we have heard, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work Thou didst work in their days, In the days of old.

2 Thou, [with] Thy hand, nations hast dispossessed. And Thou dost plant them. Thou afflictest peoples, and sendest them away.

3 For, not by their sword Possessed they the land, And their arm gave not salvation to them, But Thy right hand, and Thine arm, And the light of Thy countenance, Because Thou hadst accepted them.

4 Thou [art] He, my king, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.

5 By Thee our adversaries we do push, By Thy name tread down our withstanders,

6 For, not in my bow do I trust, And my sword doth not save me.

7 For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.

8 In God we have boasted all the day, And Thy name to the age we thank. Selah.

9 In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.

10 Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.

11 Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.

12 Thou sellest Thy people -- without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.

13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.

14 Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.

15 All the day my confusion [is] before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.

16 Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.

17 All this met us, and we did not forget Thee, Nor have we dealt falsely in Thy covenant.

18 We turn not backward our heart, Nor turn aside doth our step from Thy path.

19 But Thou hast smitten us in a place of dragons, And dost cover us over with death-shade.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, And spread our hands to a strange God,

21 Doth not God search out this? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22 Surely, for Thy sake we have been slain all the day, Reckoned as sheep of the slaughter.

23 Stir up -- why dost Thou sleep, O Lord? Awake, cast us not off for ever.

24 Why Thy face hidest Thou? Thou forgettest our afflictions and our oppression,

25 For bowed to the dust hath our soul, Cleaved to the earth hath our belly.

26 Arise, a help to us, And ransom us for thy kindness' sake.
