Re: Bible verse by verse
Sounds like Zipporah had complained to her dad that her husband was staying and working late most evenings, and didn't spend enough time at home with the kids.
And also Moses seems not to be inspired or guided by God directly and so needs Jethro's advise, who claims he is getting his information, from God?

Well, I feel Moses left his family with Jethro for obvious reasons ----- to keep them out of harms way in Egypt. I also feel that God communicated with Moses in various ways and one of them was through other humans. I'm sure Moses took Jethro's to the Lord in prayer and God said, "Yes, I sent you that message through someone you'd listen to. You're not the only one I talk to ---- you know."PrickKicker wrote:Sounds like Zipporah had complained to her dad that her husband was staying and working late most evenings, and didn't spend enough time at home with the kids.

You are wrong Nipper. Yes, a holy nation, but the priesthood was given only to males, and it was done by the ordinance of the laying on of hands as the New Testament states. It would have been totally unnecessary for Timothy to receive the priesthood this way if he just magically could received it by only believing! According to your statement, maybe the devils automatically have the priesthood also since they also believe. It also states that none should be given the priesthood except HE was called of God as Aaron was called, and if you check out Exodus 28, it states how Aaron and his sons were called. It was by revelation from God through his prophet. Later, they also received their ordination by the laying on of hands. This was done all through Jewish history!

Drifting, I think you know what I meant. One needs to have a body to perform such an ordinance. Therefore if Moses were to take part in such an ordinance, then he must needs be translated so he could have a body to perform the ordinance.

Re: Bible verse by verse
Exodus 19:1-25 Now, beginning In the third month after the people of Israel left Egypt, they came to the Sinai Desert that very day. They had left Rephidim to come to the Sinai Desert. There Israel set up their tents in front of a mountain. Moses goes up to God. The Lord called to him from the mountain to tell the house of Jacob, the people of Israel, that they have seen what God did to the Egyptians. God carried them on eagles’ wings and brought them to Himself. Now, if the Hebrews will obey God's voice and keep His agreement, they will belong to God apart from other nations. The earth belongs to God to do with as He sees fit. Israel will be to God a nation of religious leaders, a holy nation. Moses is to speak to the people of Israel. Moses comes and calls the leaders of the people. He reveals to them all these words which the Lord has told him. All the people answer together saying that they will do all that the Lord says. Moses goes to tell the Lord what the people have decided. The Lord tells Moses that He will come disguised as a thick cloud. The people will hear when God speaks with Moses, and may believe Moses forever. Moses tells the Lord that the people affirmed. The Lord says to Moses, Today and tomorrow set them apart to be holy. They must wash their clothes, and let them be ready by the third day. On the third day people will see the Lord come down on Mount Sinai. They are to be informed of places all around where they must not pass. They are to be careful that they do not go up on the mountain or touch any place around it. Whoever touches the mountain will be put to death. No hand will touch him. Such are to be executed with stones or arrows. Both animal or man, will suffer the same fate. When a long sound from a horn is heard, they may come up toward the mountain. Moses goes down from the mountain to the people. He sets the people apart to be holy, and they wash their clothes. Moses tells the people, to be ready for the third day and the men and women are to remain celebate at that time. On the morning of the third day there is heard peculiar thundering voices and seen much lightning. A cloud covers the mountain, and a very loud horn sounded. All the people among the tents shook with fear. Moses brought the people from among the tents to meet God. They stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was all covered in smoke because the Lord came down upon it in fire. Its smoke went up like the smoke of a stove. And the whole mountain shook. The sound of the horn became louder and louder. Moses spoke, and God answers him with thunder. Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. The Lord calls Moses to climb to the top of the mountain, and he goes up. The Lord again tells Moses to go down and tell the people not to break through to look for the Lord, because many of them would be destroyed. The religious leaders are to come near to the Lord and set themselves apart to be holy. Or the Lord will not tolerate them. Moses says to the Lord that the people cannot come up to Mount Sinai as even God had stated to set places around the mountain that must not be passed, and set it apart as holy. Then the Lord told Moses to go down and bring up Aaron. The other religious leaders and the rest of the people are not to come up to come up to the Lord, or God will go after them. So Moses goes down to the people and warns them.
(Note: It would seem Moses got not a little exercise in climbing up and down Mount Sinai)
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
1 In the third month of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in this day they have come into the wilderness of Sinai,
2 and they journey from Rephidim, and enter the wilderness of Sinai, and encamp in the wilderness; and Israel encampeth there before the mount.
3 And Moses hath gone up unto God, and Jehovah calleth unto him out of the mount, saying, `Thus dost thou say to the house of Jacob, and declare to the sons of Israel,
4 Ye -- ye have seen that which I have done to the Egyptians, and I bear you on eagles' wings, and bring you in unto Myself.
5 `And now, if ye really hearken to My voice, then ye have kept My covenant, and been to Me a peculiar treasure more than all the peoples, for all the earth [is] Mine;
6 and ye -- ye are to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation: these [are] the words which thou dost speak unto the sons of Israel.'
7 And Moses cometh, and calleth for the elders of the people, and setteth before them all these words which Jehovah hath commanded him;
8 and all the people answer together and say, `All that Jehovah hath spoken we do;' and Moses returneth the words of the people unto Jehovah.
9 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am coming unto thee in the thickness of the cloud, so that the people hear in My speaking with thee, and also believe in thee to the age;' and Moses declareth the words of the people unto Jehovah.
10 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go unto the people; and thou hast sanctified them to-day and to-morrow, and they have washed their garments,
11 and have been prepared for the third day; for on the third day doth Jehovah come down before the eyes of all the people, on mount Sinai.
12 `And thou hast made a border [for] the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, going up into the mount, or coming against its extremity; whoever is coming against the mount is certainly put to death;
13 a hand cometh not against him, for he is certainly stoned or shot through, whether beast or man it liveth not; in the drawing out of the jubilee cornet they go up into the mount.'
14 And Moses cometh down from the mount unto the people, and sanctifieth the people, and they wash their garments;
15 and he saith unto the people, `Be ye prepared for the third day, come not nigh unto a woman.'
16 And it cometh to pass, on the third day, while it is morning, that there are voices, and lightnings, and a heavy cloud, on the mount, and the sound of a trumpet very strong; and all the people who [are] in the camp do tremble.
17 And Moses bringeth out the people to meet God from the camp, and they station themselves at the lower part of the mount,
18 and mount Sinai [is] wholly a smoke from the presence of Jehovah, who hath come down on it in fire, and its smoke goeth up as smoke of the furnace, and the whole mount trembleth exceedingly;
19 and the sound of the trumpet is going on, and very strong; Moses speaketh, and God doth answer him with a voice.
20 And Jehovah cometh down on mount Sinai, unto the top of the mount, and Jehovah calleth for Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses goeth up.
21 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go down, protest to the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to see, and many of them have fallen;
22 and also the priests who are coming nigh unto Jehovah do sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.'
23 And Moses saith unto Jehovah, `The people [is] unable to come up unto mount Sinai, for Thou -- Thou hast protested to us, saying, Make a border [for] the mount, then thou hast sanctified it.'
24 And Jehovah saith unto him, `Go, descend, then thou hast come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; and the priests and the people do not break through, to come up unto Jehovah, lest He break forth upon them.'
25 And Moses goeth down unto the people, and saith unto them: --

Moses had been hitting the sacramental wine a little too hard at that point...

So in your mind Moses was correct for ordering the killing of both man and beast, for touching a mountain.
And you are Ok with that in your religion?

God ordered this. And yes, I believe one is fully accountable and needs to accept the responsibilities for one's own actions plus the full consequences thereof. You obviously are a product of the "me generation," who thinks they should be bailed out of everything they do and that I'm okay and your okay no matter what --- come what may. This is why the world is now in a deepening depression. For far too long people, have been allowed to behave as they wish, and imagine everyone else will take care of the results. Sorry, but this mentality was no good then and it's not working now. You've been told: don't take drugs, don't get drunk, don't mess around, do your homework, stay in school, study, and don't climb this or that mountain or you will die. If an animal has no excuse, certainly a human has none.
Christ came as the only Savior; however, those who reject Him will go to Hell. There are absolutes. This is exactly what Christianity ultimately teaches.
