1 Timothy 6:1-21

Those who are slaves should regard their masters as fully worthy of respect, so that the name of God and the teaching will not be brought into question.

And those who have believing masters are not to show them less respect on the ground that they are brothers; quite the contrary, they should serve all the more diligently, since those benefiting from their service are believers whom they love. Teach and exhort people about these things.

If anyone teaches differently and does not agree to the sound doctrine of our Lord Jesus the Messiah and to the doctrine that is holding to godliness,

he is bloated with conceit and understands nothing. Instead, he has a morbid desire for controversies and fighting words, out of which come jealousy, dissension, insults, evil suspicions,

and constant wrangling among people whose minds no longer function properly and who have been deprived of the truth, so that they imagine that religion is a road to wealth.

Now true religion does bring great riches, but only to those content with what they possess.

For we brought nothing into the world; and we can remove nothing from it;

so if we have food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these.

Furthermore, those whose goal is to be rich fall into temptation; they get trapped in many foolish and hurtful ambitions which plunge them into ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a root of all the evils; because of this craving, some people have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves to the heart with much sorrow.

But you, as a man of God, run from such things; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Grasp the eternal life to which you were called when you testified so well to your faith before many witnesses.

I direct you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Jesus the Messiah, who in his witness to Pontius Pilate gave the same good testimony,

to obey your commission spotlessly and irreproachably until our Lord Jesus the Messiah appears.

His appearing will be brought about in due time by the blessed and ONLY Sovereign, who is King of kings and Lord of lords,

who alone is immortal, dwells in unapproachable light that no human being has ever seen or can see — to Him be honor and eternal power. So be it.

As for those who do have riches in this life, charge them not to be proud and not to let their hopes rest on the uncertainties of riches but to rest their hopes on God, who richly provides us with all things for our wonderment.

Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous and ready to share.

In this way they will collect for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may lay hold of the real life.

Oh, Timothy! Protect what has been entrusted to you. Turn away from ungodly babblings and argumentative opposition of what is falsely called “knowledge.”

For many who promise this “knowledge” have missed the mark, as far as the faith is concerned. Grace be with you.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 As many as are servants under a yoke, their own masters worthy of all honour let them reckon, that the name of God and the teaching may not be evil spoken of;

2 and those having believing masters, let them not slight [them], because they are brethren, but rather let them serve, because they are stedfast and beloved, who of the benefit are partaking. These things be teaching and exhorting;

3 if any one be teaching otherwise, and do not consent to sound words -- those of our Lord Jesus Christ -- and to the teaching according to piety,

4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and word-striving, out of which doth come envy, strife, evil-speakings, evil-surmisings,

5 wranglings of men wholly corrupted in mind, and destitute of the truth, supposing the piety to be gain; depart from such;

6 but it is great gain -- the piety with contentment;

7 for nothing did we bring into the world -- [it is] manifest that we are able to carry nothing out;

8 but having food and raiment -- with these we shall suffice ourselves;

9 and those wishing to be rich, do fall into temptation and a snare, and many desires, foolish and hurtful, that sink men into ruin and destruction,

10 for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;

11 and thou, O man of God, these things flee, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness;

12 be striving the good strife of the faith, be laying hold on the life age-during, to which also thou wast called, and didst profess the right profession before many witnesses.

13 I charge thee, before God, who is making all things alive, and of Christ Jesus, who did testify before Pontius Pilate the right profession,

14 that thou keep the command unspotted, unblameable, till the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 which in His own times He shall shew -- the blessed and only potentate, the King of the kings and Lord of the lords,

16 who only is having immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable, whom no one of men did see, nor is able to see, to whom [is] honour and might age-during! Amen.

17 Those rich in the present age charge thou not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment; --

18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to impart, willing to communicate,

19 treasuring up to themselves a right foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life age-during.

20 O Timotheus, the thing entrusted guard thou, avoiding the profane vain-words and opposition of the falsely-named knowledge,

21 which certain professing -- concerning the faith did swerve; the grace [is] with you. Amen.

2 Timothy 1:1-18

From: Paul, an apostle of Jesus the Messiah by God’s will, which presents a promise of life through being united with Jesus the Messiah

To: Timothy, my dear son:

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Jesus the Messiah, our Lord.

I give thanks to God, whom, like my forbears, I worship with a clean conscience, as I regularly remember you in my prayers continually.

I'm reminded of your tears, and I long to see you, so that I might be joyous.

I remember your sincere trust, the same type that your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice had first; and I am convinced that you too now posess this trust.

For this reason, I'm reminding you to promote God’s gift, which you received through a blessing from me.

For God gave us a Spirit who produces not timidity, but strength, love and self-discipline.

So don’t be ashamed of bearing testimony to our Lord or to me, his prisoner. On the contrary, accept your share in suffering disgrace for the sake of the Good Message. God will give you the strength for it,

as He delivered us and called us to a life of holiness as His people. It was not because of our accomplishments, but because of His own intentions and the grace which He handed to us who are in union with Jesus the Messiah. He accomplished this before time began,

but made it public only now through the appearing of our Savior, Jesus the Messiah, who abolished death and, through the Good Message, revealed life and immortality.

It was for this Good Message that I was appointed a proclaimer, apostle and teacher of the Gentiles;

and this is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, because I know Him in whom I have put my trust, and I am persuaded that he can protect until that Day what he has entrusted to me.

Follow the pattern of the sound teachings you have heard from me, with trust and the love which is yours in Jesus the Messiah.

Keep safe the great treasure that has been entrusted to you, with the assistance from the Holy Spirit, who lives in us.

You realize that everyone in the province of Asia deserted me, including Phygellus and Hermogenes .

May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often comforted me and was not ashamed of my prison stay.

Quite the contrary, when he arrived at Rome, he diligently searched for and found me.

May the Lord grant it to him to find the Lord's mercy that Day. And you realize how much he helped me in Ephesus.
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, according to a promise of life that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2 to Timotheus, beloved child: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord!

3 I am thankful to God, whom I serve from progenitors in a pure conscience, that unceasingly I have remembrance concerning thee in my supplications night and day,

4 desiring greatly to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that with joy I may be filled,

5 taking remembrance of the unfeigned faith that is in thee, that dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that also in thee.

6 For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God that is in thee through the putting on of my hands,

7 for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind;

8 therefore thou mayest not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do thou suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,

9 who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages,

10 and was made manifest now through the manifestation of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who indeed did abolish death, and did enlighten life and immortality through the good news,

11 to which I was placed a preacher and an apostle, and a teacher of nations,

12 for which cause also these things I suffer, but I am not ashamed, for I have known in whom I have believed, and have been persuaded that he is able that which I have committed to him to guard -- to that day.

13 The pattern hold thou of sound words, which from me thou didst hear, in faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus;

14 the good thing committed guard thou through the Holy Spirit that is dwelling in us;

15 thou hast known this, that they did turn from me -- all those in Asia, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes;

16 may the Lord give kindness to the house of Onesiphorus, because many times he did refresh me, and of my chain was not ashamed,

17 but being in Rome, very diligently he sought me, and found;

18 may the Lord give to him to find kindness from the Lord in that day; and how many things in Ephesus he did minister thou dost very well know.

2 Timothy 2:1-26

So, my son, be empowered by the grace that comes from Jesus the Messiah.

And the things you heard from me, supported by many witnesses, these things commit to faithful people, competent to also teach others.

Accept your portion in suffering disgrace as a good soldier of Jesus the Messiah.

No soldier on duty involves himself with civilian affairs, since he must please his Commander.

Also an athlete will not win a contest unless he competes according to the rules.

The farmer who has done the hard work should be the first to receive a share of the harvest.

Think about what I am saying, for the Lord will enable you to understand everything.

Remember Jesus the Messiah, who was raised from the dead and a descendant of David. This is the Good Message I proclaim,

and for which I am suffering to the point of being bound in chains — but the Word of God is not bound in chains!

Why do I persevere through it all? For the sake of those who have been selected, so that they too may obtain the deliverance that comes through Jesus the Messiah, with eternal glory.

Here is a statement you can trust: If we have died with Him, we will also live with him.

If we persevere, we will also rule with Him If we disavowal Him, He will also disavowal us.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for he cannot disavowal Himself.

Keep reminding people of this, and charge them solemnly before the Lord not to engage in a battle of words. They accomplish nothing useful and are a catastrophe for the hearers!

Do all you can to distinguish yourself to God as someone worthy of His approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth.

But keep away from godless babbling, for those who engage in it will only grow more ungodly,

and their teaching will eat away at people like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are among these;

they have missed the bullseye, as far as the truth is concerned, by saying that our resurrection has already occurred; and they are flipping over some people’s faith.

Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation remains, stamped with these words: “The Lord knows His own,” and,“Let everyone who claims he belongs to the Lord abstain from wrongdoing.”

In a mansion there are dishes and pots not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. That is, some are meant for honorable use and some for dishonorable.

If a person keeps himself free of defilement by the latter, he will be a vessel set aside for honorable use by the master of the house and ready for all sorts of good work.

So, flee the passions of youth; and, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love and peace.

But stay away from stupid and ignorant controversies — you know that they lead to fights,

and a slave of the Lord shouldn’t fight. On the contrary, he should be nice to everyone, a good instructor, and not resentful when mistreated.

Also he should be gentle as he corrects his opponents. For God may perhaps grant them an opportunity to turn from their sins, acquire full knowledge of the truth,

come to their senses and escape Satan's trap, after having been captured alive by him to accomplish his will.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Thou, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2 and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to stedfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;

3 thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;

4 no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;

5 and if also any one may strive, he is not crowned, except he may strive lawfully;

6 the labouring husbandman it behoveth first of the fruits to partake;

7 be considering what things I say, for the Lord give to thee understanding in all things.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised out of the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,

9 in which I suffer evil -- unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God hath not been bound;

10 because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in Christ Jesus, with glory age-during.

11 Stedfast [is] the word: For if we died together -- we also shall live together;

12 if we do endure together -- we shall also reign together; if we deny [him], he also shall deny us;

13 if we are not stedfast, he remaineth stedfast; to deny himself he is not able.

14 These things remind [them] of, testifying fully before the Lord -- not to strive about words to nothing profitable, but to the subversion of those hearing;

15 be diligent to present thyself approved to God -- a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;

16 and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance,

17 and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,

18 who concerning the truth did swerve, saying the rising again to have already been, and do overthrow the faith of some;

19 sure, nevertheless, hath the foundation of God stood, having this seal, `The Lord hath known those who are His,' and `Let him depart from unrighteousness -- every one who is naming the name of Christ.'

20 And in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonour:

21 if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master -- to every good work having been prepared,

22 and the youthful lusts flee thou, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those calling upon the Lord out of a pure heart;

23 and the foolish and uninstructed questions be avoiding, having known that they beget strife,

24 and a servant of the Lord it behoveth not to strive, but to be gentle unto all, apt to teach, patient under evil,

25 in meekness instructing those opposing -- if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth,

26 and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.

2 Timothy 3:1-17

Hey, get this: in the last times will come trying episodes.

People will be self-loving, money-loving, proud, arrogant, insulting, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

heartless, unable to be pleased, slanderous, uncontrolled, brutal, hateful of goodness,

traitorous, headstrong, swelled with conceit, loving to be pleasured rather than God,

as they cling to an outer mode of religion but deny its power.

Stay away from these people!

For some of them sneak into homes and get control of weak-willed women who are laden with sins and swayed by various impulses,

who are always learning but never able to come to full knowledge of the truth.

In the same way as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these people oppose the truth. They are people with corrupted minds, whose trust cannot pass the test.

However, they won’t get very far; because everyone will observe their stupidity, just as happened with those two.

But you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, trust, steadiness, love and perseverance —

as well as the persecutions and sufferings that came upon me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all.

And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with Jesus the Messiah will face persecuted,

while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and themselves.

However you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, remembering the people from whom you learned it;

and recalling also how from childhood you knew the Holy Scriptures, which can provide to you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Jesus the Messiah.

All Scripture is God inspired and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in proper living;

thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully prepared for every good work.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And this know thou, that in the last days there shall come perilous times,

2 for men shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, evil-speakers, to parents disobedient, unthankful, unkind,

3 without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, not lovers of those who are good,

4 traitors, heady, lofty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,

5 having a form of piety, and its power having denied; and from these be turning away,

6 for of these there are those coming into the houses and leading captive the silly women, laden with sins, led away with desires manifold,

7 always learning, and never to a knowledge of truth able to come,

8 and, even as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, so also these do stand against the truth, men corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith;

9 but they shall not advance any further, for their folly shall be manifest to all, as theirs also did become.

10 And thou -- thou hast followed after my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, endurance,

11 the persecutions, the afflictions, that befel me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of all the Lord did deliver me,

12 and all also who will to live piously in Christ Jesus shall be persecuted,

13 and evil men and impostors shall advance to the worse, leading astray and being led astray.

14 And thou -- be remaining in the things which thou didst learn and wast entrusted with, having known from whom thou didst learn,

15 and because from a babe the Holy Writings thou hast known, which are able to make thee wise -- to salvation, through faith that [is] in Christ Jesus;

16 every Writing [is] God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that [is] in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be fitted -- for every good work having been completed.

2 Timothy 4:1-22

I solemnly command you before God and Jesus the Messiah (who will judge the living and the dead when He appears and sets up His Kingdom)

proclaim the Word! Be on hand with it whether the time seems appropriate or not. Convict, express disapproval and exhort with persistant patience and with teaching.

For the time is on the way when people will not have patience for sound teaching, but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers who say whatever their ears desire hear.

Yes, they will stop listening to the truth, but will turn aside to follow fables.

But you, remain steady in every situation, endure suffering, do the work that a proclaimer of the Good Message should, and do everything your service to God requires.

For as for me, I am already being poured out on the altar; yes, the time for my departure has arrived.

I have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

All that awaits me now is the crown of righteousness which the Lord, “the Righteous Judge,” will award to me on that Day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for Him to show up.

Do your best to visit with me soon.

For Demas has fallen in love with this present world --- deserted me and ventured to Thessalonica; Crescens has traveled to Galatia; Titus went to Dalmatia —

only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him alone, because he is a very useful helper in my work.

But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.

When you come, bring the coat which I left with Carpus in Troas, also the scrolls and especially the parchments.

Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm; the Lord will render to him according to his works.

You should guard against him, because he bitterly opposed everything we said.

The 1st time I had to present my defense, no one stood by me; everyone deserted me — may it not be held against them.

But the Lord stood by me and gave me power to proclaim the full message for all the Gentiles to hear, and I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be the glory eternally. So be it.

Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus.

Erastus has remained in Corinth, and Trophimus I left under the weather at Miletus.

Try hard to get here before winter. Eubulus , Pudens, Linus, Claudia and all the brethren send greetings to you

The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 I do fully testify, then, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is about to judge living and dead at his manifestation and his reign --

2 preach the word; be earnest in season, out of season, convict, rebuke, exhort, in all long-suffering and teaching,

3 for there shall be a season when the sound teaching they will not suffer, but according to their own desires to themselves they shall heap up teachers -- itching in the hearing,

4 and indeed, from the truth the hearing they shall turn away, and to the fables they shall be turned aside.

5 And thou -- watch in all things; suffer evil; do the work of one proclaiming good news; of thy ministration make full assurance,

6 for I am already being poured out, and the time of my release hath arrived;

7 the good strife I have striven, the course I have finished, the faith I have kept,

8 henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of the righteousness that the Lord -- the Righteous Judge -- shall give to me in that day, and not only to me, but also to all those loving his manifestation.

9 Be diligent to come unto me quickly,

10 for Demas forsook me, having loved the present age, and went on to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia,

11 Lukas only is with me; Markus having taken, bring with thyself, for he is profitable to me for ministration;

12 and Tychicus I sent to Ephesus;

13 the cloak that I left in Troas with Carpus, coming, bring thou and the books -- especially the parchments.

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil; may the Lord repay to him according to his works,

15 of whom also do thou beware, for greatly hath he stood against our words;

16 in my first defence no one stood with me, but all forsook me, (may it not be reckoned to them!)

17 and the Lord stood by me, and did strengthen me, that through me the preaching might be fully assured, and all the nations might hear, and I was freed out of the mouth of a lion,

18 and the Lord shall free me from every evil work, and shall save [me] -- to his heavenly kingdom; to whom [is] the glory to the ages of the ages! Amen.

19 Salute Prisca and Aquilas, and Onesiphorus' household;

20 Erastus did remain in Corinth, and Trophimus I left in Miletus infirm;

21 be diligent to come before winter. Salute thee doth Eubulus, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

22 The Lord Jesus Christ [is] with thy spirit; the grace [is] with you! Amen.

The book of Titus is a letter likely written from Macedonia, A. D. 66 to an individual named Titus who was an uncircumcised saved gentile.

Titus 1:1-16

From: Paul, God’s slave and an apostle of Jesus the Messiah, sent to promote among God’s chosen people the trust and knowledge of truth leading to godliness

and which are based on the absolute hope of eternal life. God, who does not lie, promised that life before time began, but made public this word of His in its own season through a proclamation with which I have been entrusted by order of God, our Deliverer.

Attention: Titus, a true son in the faith we share:

Grace and Peace from God the Father and from Jesus the Messiah, our Deliverer.

The reason I left you in Crete was so that you might attend to the matters still not in order and establish congregation leaders in each city — per my instructions.

A leader must be blameless, husband to one wife, with believing children who do not have a reputation for being wild or rebellious.

For an overseer, being someone entrusted with God’s affairs, must be blameless. He must not be self-willed or quick-tempered, he must not be a drunkard, get into fights or be greedy for dishonest gain.

Quite the contrary, he must be hospitable, devoted to good, sober-mindedness, uprightness, holiness and self-control.

He must hold steady to the trustworthy Message agreeing with the doctrine; so that by his sound teaching he will be able to urge and encourage, and also to refute those who speak against it.

For there are many, especially from the Circumcision faction, who are rebellious, who delude people’s minds with their worthless and misleading talk.

They must be silenced; because they are upsetting entire households by teaching what they have no business promoting, and doing it for the sake of dishonest gain.

Even one of the Cretans’ own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons” —

it's a fact! For this reason, you must be resolute when you rebuke those who have followed this false teaching, so that they will become sound in their trust

and no longer pay attention to Judaistic myths or to the commands of people who reject the truth.

To the pure, everything is pure. But to those who are defiled and without trust, nothing is pure — even their minds and consciences have been defiled.

They claim to know God, but with their actions they deny Him. They are disgusting and disobedient; they proven themselves unfit to do anything good.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of the choice ones of God, and an acknowledging of truth that [is] according to piety,

2 upon hope of life age-during, which God, who doth not lie, did promise before times of ages,

3 (and He manifested in proper times His word,) in preaching, which I was entrusted with, according to a charge of God our Saviour,

4 to Titus -- true child according to a common faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour!

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that the things lacking thou mayest arrange, and mayest set down in every city elders, as I did appoint to thee;

6 if any one is blameless, of one wife a husband, having children stedfast, not under accusation of riotous living or insubordinate --

7 for it behoveth the overseer to be blameless, as God's steward, not self-pleased, nor irascible, not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 but a lover of strangers, a lover of good men, sober-minded, righteous, kind, self-controlled,

9 holding -- according to the teaching -- to the stedfast word, that he may be able also to exhort in the sound teaching, and the gainsayers to convict;

10 for there are many both insubordinate, vain-talkers, and mind-deceivers -- especially they of the circumcision --

11 whose mouth it behoveth to stop, who whole households do overturn, teaching what things it behoveth not, for filthy lucre's sake.

12 A certain one of them, a prophet of their own, said -- `Cretans! always liars, evil beasts, lazy bellies!'

13 this testimony is true; for which cause convict them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commands of men, turning themselves away from the truth;

15 all things, indeed, [are] pure to the pure, and to the defiled and unstedfast [is] nothing pure, but of them defiled [are] even the mind and the conscience;

16 God they profess to know, and in the works they deny [Him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work disapproved.[/quote]

Titus 2:1-15

But you, explain what kind of behavior combines with sound teaching.

Tell older male believers to be serious, sensible, self-controlled and sound in their trust, love and persistance.

Also, tell older female believers to behave the way people leading a holy life should. They should nor slander or slaves to drunkenness. They should teach what is good,

In this way training the younger women to love their husbands and children,

to be self-controlled and pure, to take good care of their homes and give final determinations over to their husbands. In this way, God’s message will not be possibly considered disgraceful.

Likewise, urge the young men to be self-controlled,

and in everything be to them an example yourself by doing what is good. When you are teaching, have integrity and be serious;

let everything you say be so wholesome that opposition will be put to shame because he will have nothing bad to say regarding us.

Tell slaves to submit to their masters in everything, to give satisfaction without holding back

or stealing. On the contrary, they should demonstrate complete faithfulness continually, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Deliverer more desirerable.

For God’s grace, bringing deliverance, has appeared to everyone.

It teaches us to renounce godlessness and worldly pleasures, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives now, at this time;

while continuing to expect the blessed fulfillment of our certain hope, which is the appearing of the glory of our great God and the appearing of our Deliverer, Jesus the Messiah.

Who gave Himself up on our behalf in order to free us from all violation of the LAW/Torah and purify to Himself a people who would be His ---- eager to do good.

These are the things you should proclaim. Encourage and rebuke with full authority. Don’t let anyone put you down.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And thou -- be speaking what doth become the sound teaching;

2 aged men to be temperate, grave, sober, sound in the faith, in the love, in the endurance;

3 aged women, in like manner, in deportment as doth become sacred persons, not false accusers, to much wine not enslaved, of good things teachers,

4 that they may make the young women sober-minded, to be lovers of [their] husbands, lovers of [their] children,

5 sober, pure, keepers of [their own] houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.

6 The younger men, in like manner, be exhorting to be sober-minded;

7 concerning all things thyself showing a pattern of good works; in the teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, incorruptibility,

8 discourse sound, irreprehensible, that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you.

9 Servants -- to their own masters [are] to be subject, in all things to be well-pleasing, not gainsaying,

10 not purloining, but showing all good stedfastness, that the teaching of God our Saviour they may adorn in all things.

11 For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men,

12 teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, soberly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age,

13 waiting for the blessed hope and manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,

14 who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;

15 these things be speaking, and exhorting, and convicting, with all charge; let no one despise thee!

Titus 3:1-15

Remind people to be in subjection to the government and its officials, to obey them, to be ready to do any honorable labor,

not to slander anyone, avoid quarreling, be friendly, and act gently towards everyone.

For once, we were also foolish and disobedient, deceived and enslaved by a variety of passions and pleasures. We spent our lives in evil and envy; people hated us, and we hated each other.

But when the kindness and love for mankind of God our Deliverer was revealed,

He saved us. It was not because of any righteous deeds we had done, but on the ground of His own mercy. He did it by means of the immersion of rebirth and the renewal brought about by the Holy Spirit,

whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus the Messiah, our Savior.

He did this that by His grace we might come to be considered righteous by God and become heirs, with the absolute hope of everlasting life.

You can believe what I have just said, and I want you to speak with confidence about these things, so that those who have put their trust in God may apply themselves to doing good deeds. These are both good in themselves and valuable to society.

But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, quarrels and fights about the Law; because they are worthless and pointless.

Warn a troublemaker once, then a second time; and after that, have nothing more to do with him.

You may be sure that such a individual has been perverted and is sinning: he's self-condemned.

When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you. Do your best to come to me in Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.

Do your best to help Zenas the Lawyer and Apollos with their arrangements for travel, so that they will lack for nothing.

And have our people learn to apply themselves to accomplishing good deeds that meet necessities, so that they will not be unproductive.

All here with me send you greetings. Give our greetings to our friends in the faith.

Grace be with you all.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Remind them to be subject to principalities and authorities, to obey rule, unto every good work to be ready,

2 of no one to speak evil, not to be quarrelsome -- gentle, showing all meekness to all men,

3 for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;

4 and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear

5 (not by works that [are] in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,

6 which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

7 that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during.

8 Stedfast [is] the word; and concerning these things I counsel thee to affirm fully, that they may be thoughtful, to be leading in good works -- who have believed God; these are the good and profitable things to men,

9 and foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about law, stand away from -- for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 A sectarian man, after a first and second admonition be rejecting,

11 having known that he hath been subverted who [is] such, and doth sin, being self-condemned.

12 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis, for there to winter I have determined.

13 Zenas the lawyer and Apollos bring diligently on their way, that nothing to them may be lackin14 and let them learn -- ours also -- to be leading in good works to the necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.

15 Salute thee do all those with me; salute those loving us in faith; the grace [is] with you all!

The book of Philemon is a letter written by Paul from prison (circa 61 A.D.) It was written to a believer named Philemon to request of forgiveness for his runaway servant Onesimus, a new believer in Jesus Christ.
