The WoW is NOT solely about abstinence from alcohol nor is there any expectation that the information contained within it is unique.
It would be interesting to have Drifting comment if he thinks he made any statement that meant that the WoW was only about abstinence from alcohol, and see who has better comprehension skills here. Not that it would I am really good at it though.
The mistake I made (and admitted earlier in the thread) was that I only posted part of the article about temperance movements which appeared to limit what I was saying to the alcohol part. I conceded this mistake and stated that I did indeed mean for the OP to include the whole of the principles in the word of wisdom.
The point of the thread is to ask why God felt He needed to give Joseph a revelation about health principles that were already widely accepted, practiced and preached and which were likely very familiar to him.

I don't want to suggest I am a master of reading comprehension, but I did tell tobin he was wrong. You may have limited what you said to alcohol, but not that the WoW was only about alcohol. You even admitted that my take on what the OP was about was also correct. :)

I think I've done that three times now! You owe me...

Again, I am not wrong. I responded to the OP and that is why I stated what I stated. Reading comprehension does not mean I read minds (nor care to try).

Sorry but drifting has already shown that yes you were wrong. I did call it. You can't show where he says the WoW was only about alcohol, and he admits that he never stated that specifically. Therefore you were wrong to get that idea. I knew he did not say or mean it, and he has conformed that now. He even agreed with me when I stated what the OP was about. Hmm interesting :)
